Liz, neither of us predicted Jude Bolton would be on the bench this week...........for me that was a significant surprise..........I though Jude had a brilliant 2010.
I think we have witnessed that John Longmire wants certain levels of agility for particular roles and especially against a good half of the teams in the comp........we are up against serious leg speed in this comp...............
maybe Rok will force his way back into 50% of his time in the midfield..........but I will stand by my view.........if he is only playing a leading forward pocket in attack and shutting down a mobile back in defence he is under serious pressure as there are players who can kick more goals then him playing that role which is massively important along with our high pressure game plan
PS - Lets see how Macca goes in his "Brett Kirk type role" the next few weeks...............that prediction is one step closer with Bolton the bench and only Smithy tagging
a) Since when did anyone take any notice of the exact spots players are listed on the team sheet
b) I suspect ROK spent most of last season named on a HFF
c) Teams need a dozen players who can rotate through the midfield nowadays
d) ROK very rarely starts at centre bounces. He does much dirty clearance work at around the ground stoppages but he's not really a centre bounce man
He's barely 30, has been one of our most consistent and damaging players for 7 or so seasons, and, by all reports, the off-season surgery cleared up last year's groin problems. It would take a huge drop off in form from the last few years for him not to be an absolutely automatic selection for the whole season, and quite probably another couple of seasons after that.
Agree 100%.
We don't have 15 players better than O'Keefe, let alone 22.
RyanO is a lock unless he's injured, such a versatile and hardened player.

Again, who cares where they are named. Jude will spend plenty of time in the middle of the ground, whether he starts on the bench or on the field.
I do, however, think the end will come more quickly for Jude than for ROK. For a start, he is about a year older and the kamikaze approach he takes to his footy must start to take a toll at some point. I also think he has fewer strings to his bow than ROK. He is not as tall, and though he's a pretty decent mark for his size, ROK is significantly better (and an inch or two taller). ROK's kicking is also more penetrating and generally more accurate than Jude's, and his game against Hodge last year showed us that he can play a defensive role too, something that Jude hasn't ever really demonstrated.
Not that I am writing Jude off yet either. Why don't we just wait and see how things pan out over the next week or 10?
I'm so agitated that I can't even analyze the team...I just want the game to begin and our season to begin and ...and a....and.are we there yet?????????
