I can't see how the Swans can risk Bird with the current sub rule unless they are 100% sure he can finish a game.

Why is it that Sydney seems to be the only Club that is having so much problem with rucks and the sub rule? I'd play Pyke at fullback all the time. He's experienced enough now and he has the pace to get out of trouble. We then play 2 interchanging rucks and have the players to cover for it.

My emergency educated guess is/are: Parker, Meredith, Bird

Sumner to play as it's the Marn Grook Cup

Pyke's in. Gotta be in. And won't be the sub after what happened last week.

              I'm plumping for
I/C: Craig Bird, Mike Pyke, Gary Rohan, Byron Sumner
Emg: Jesse White, Brett Meredith, Luke Parker
Agree that if a tall comes in, one probably goes out. Shame for Jess who I thought had some excellent moments last week. Just one of the many "unforeseen consequences" of this new rule that young talls will get less development time.

You're probably right (as usual) Ugg.

The fact that Reid is named at FF is telling isn't it? White's problem is he plays like a small forward. Kicks great opportunist goals but rarely gets them from a mark on the lead.

That's the problem with Jesse, he has some terrific moments but goes missing for long stretches as well.

I'd like to see Meredith ahead of Sumner.
Sumner chased a lot of ball, but did get much of it.
I think Meredith might give us a bit more than Sumner ATM.

i felt we carried around 5 players last weekend and almost won against a white hot lightening fast Dee's on our dead end field the MCG

I felt, in part what kept us in the game was having the 3 very fast tall leading players............it made the matchups difficult for Melb

Given ROK played a fair bit in the backs last week and will again where needed this week and most backs played 90% plus of the game and did a pretty good job - I would suggest :

                      White, Bird, Rohan, Sumner

But Sumner will get to play a little more midfield and sub into the backs only when the place a small fast midfielder up there in the Forwards

My bet is Meredith will be the sub. Pyke will rest in Defence, Mummy in the forward line when Pyke is rucking.

My best guess is Pyke wont play,i think Mummy will ruck when Hille rucks and White when Ryder does, yes we loose out in the ruck but Jesse has the pace to go with Ryder around the ground i dont think Pyke does,Bird will be the sub imo.

I think the bench will be: White Rohan Bird with the substitute being Meredith

Some people must be out of their minds. There is no way you could risk Pyke playing a KP backman. You need years of developing footy smarts.

His courage is undenialable, his goalkicking is generally good but his clangers are unbearably bad. If he plays, and I am sure he will as he is listed, I hope he plays in the forward line where his clangers will not be as costly as down back.
