You add the weather to the well known issues with transport and parking I don't blame people for giving the game a miss. It's a terrible shame this city never got it's stadia right. The SCG is a great ground but has awful infrastructure servicing it whereas Homebush is the opposite. It's why I love visiting Melbourne because they got it brilliantly right.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I wonder how many tuned in. Giving how boring it was, I doubt they would have stayed the distance.

Funnily enough the Melbourne Media were congratulatory of your efforts in turning out on Saturday Night.

That photo must have been taken very early in the game as they were happy.

That's 2 poor home crowds to start the season. It's a massive concern.
I couldn't get to the game due to another commitment, but I reckon 25k on such a crappy night weather-wise was a pretty good effort....

What do people think of the chances of the Carlton game GA tickets selling out in advance??

I know the weather was a factor, but considering this was something of an SCG blockbuster, we should have at least cracked the 30,000 mark.

There were plenty of Cats supporters in attendance - where was everyone else?
                You're joking right?
25000 in weather like that and you think that's disappointing?
I thought that was a stunning crowd all things considered.
I am a fanatic who attends every home game rain, hail or shine. I sit in the Noble so that I can choose to sit in the open or under cover when we get weather like Saturday night.
But it's easy for me, I am blessed with good health and only have to worry about myself.
But what about our members that are elderly, or suffer with poor health or have small children? If I had any of these concerns I wouldn't have been there on Saturday night either!

Must admit I was disappointed with the crowd number but you do make a very good point. I like you will come in Rain or Shine ( I draw the line at Hail... Ouch) but in weather like that you can understand those who are in the elements to stay home.

However if it's a fine night against Carton and we don't crack 30k then we know we have a problem

I drove up from Melbourne for it with my brother and a mate. We were pretty staggered at the poor crowd, conisdering it was the first real home game for the year, and our form had been good. I saw more swans fans at etihad against North last year.

I'll be there for the Carlton match and reckon that we will crack the 30k provided the weather behaves itself - I hope there's a bit of promotion of the game leading up to next Friday night..... I for one am looking forward to it already.

Some years ago I played a game in which it hailed for a quarter - double ouch!

And it's not easy for lots of families to get everyone together to travel to the footy after work on a Friday night.

Yeah, tell me about it. I usually take a family member to SCG games, but it's just not possible on a Friday night.

True, but I could almost guarantee for the Friday night game that this will be the largest 'walk up' ticket purchases of any of our home games. Working folk in the city hit the bars and then think, let's head up to watch the Swannies. Providing the weather is good, I reckon it will be an awesome crowd!
                              Swannies for life!

                                25,000 is a great crowd

Awful weather and against a team we had no hope of beating. Against an interstate team too. Name me a Melbourne crowd vs an interstate team in terrible weather on a Sat. night in which home side are almost certain to lose where the crowd tops 25,000. NEVER.

                                Also Adelaide SHOWDOWN...ie 2 HOME teams...crowd = 33,000!!!

Also there was a big Mel game (Saints/Rich????) and the crowd was significantly less than 40,000
