    Talking over team songs

In our past 2 home games, the ground announcer has talked over the team songs both when sides were running out but most annoyingly when Cheer Cheer was playing after we beat Essendon.

Singing Cheer Cheer after winning is one of the best moments after a winning game. Please do not let the ground announcers ruin it!

Oh yes, I noticed this at ANZ Stadium and hoped it was a one off, but last night the songs started quietly as the teams were running out because the ground announcer was talking over them.

The thing that gets me about the ground announcer is they are just so uninformed. Last night for instance they had Stokes lining up and Christensen was in the emergencies.

Stokes pulled out on Friday morning ffs. And last night was definitely not a one off, it happens just about every week there is a 'late' change. If it's too much to ask that they are aware of who's playing, than don't bother saying anything.

      It's embarrassing.

        +1 all round.

As for the signage!!!!! It nearly drove us to distraction, especially the bouncing ball. In the4 middle of an action piece its flick change flick change, bob bob bob bob.....I hate that bloody sign.

Do you mean Christina Kenneally, Justin Bieber or Bob Carr?

I was sitting opposite the signs with Big Al and we didn't mind it but we were busy on the binoculars. I wish they had put up a good Doris Day movie in that last quarter. A bad one would have sufficed even.

I actually took my 7 yr old Princess to see the Justin Bieber movie tonight. After surviving the first 15 minutes, it was interesting to watch. The kid is actually a very talented musician with a bad hairstyle. Pity the Swans weren't Never say Never in the last quarter last night.!

Wow. I don't think I could do that for any (hypothetical) daughter of mine. Or anyone, really. Kudos.

Not sure if this is embarrassing or just plain funny - maybe both - but when they put up a selected list of better known Swans who played in the reserves team, it told us we'd been watching Robert Lewis-Thompson. Hard to imagine how anyone involved in any role in AFL in Sydney could get names like that wrong. Did the work experience kid write up the list?

To be fair, Christensen must be Stokes' long lost twin brother. They look so similar!

Maybe they did the list by iPhone... The auto correct on mine has made some weird changes over the bears.

Agreed - when I first saw Christensen, his physique was so similar to Stokes, the only way I knew it wasn't Stokes was the 28 instead of the 27!

                      Hi All,

I've just come out of our debrief meeting for Saturday's match, and I have passed on your feedback about the Ground Announcer talking over the team songs. The Operations team have said they will monitor this closely in the coming matches, and will ensure it does not happen again.

A special thanks to Matt for bringing it to our attention! Team songs are part of the tradition of AFL football, and we definitely want to make sure that everyone can enjoy the moment as the team runs out, and following a win.

I'll also pass on the note regarding the incorrect players being listed.

                      Cheers,
                      Jenny
