Seemed like a pretty good option when you are basically jogging (or in Tadhg's case perhaps "jigging") on the spot and you know the ump wants to call you for "too far". Of course Tadhg tends to do that more than most.
Less likely to go spectacularly wrong than bouncing, less awkward than touching the ball to the ground, and if you've taken a whole year off playing Gaelic to practice, then why not.
