        RIP Bobby...

Gave Roosy the Jock McHale Medal in 05 so will always be in my memories. Will be sadly missed by the Cats.

My lasting memory of him will be him presenting Bomber Thompson and Tom Harley with the 2009 cup and remaining on the stage to celebrate with the Geelong team.

RIP Bob Davis. He will be missed. But thankfully he lived to see Geelong's 2007 and 2009 flags.

Farewell to a great player - and he could have been a Swan!
From Ballarat, the son of a barber and SP bookie, he barracked for South Melbourne, but was rejected by the Swans - so is history incidentally shaped - and alighted on Geelong in 1948, at the start of a thrilling era.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                    Vale Bobby Davis

The (Geelong) Addy had a huge spread today on the life of a Geelong legend.

I loved watching the 3 wise monkeys in the 80's when I was a young groovy gal having a hoot of a time working in Melbourne - nothing better than a few beverages on a Thursday arvo after work (as a warm up for Friday night) - get the tram - pop into the 7/11 on cnr of Dandenong and Hotham rd for supplies (normally some very cool Alpine lights!) cross the road to home and settle back and watch League Teams . No one cared about the actual teams - they wanted the other stuff that came with Bob Jack & Lou. it was really good fun to watch. World of sport on Sunday was on a bigger scale - pretty much the entire panel - with Bobby leading the charging giving a young Sam Newman what for, for a couple of hours. Excellent stuff. We had nothing of that calibre like that up here in Sydney. RIP Bobby you were a good egg.- and now only Lou is left.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Sad passing. I thought he was such a genuine funny man. All the stories about him. A pioneer of television as well. Only Lou left and sadly not for that much longer either.
