The Age story sounds like a disgruntled Brisbane supporter.

    Swans tear Lions apart

The Hun's is by Todd Balym, who actually knows a bit about the Swans.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

That first story is more one sided than a flounder.

I wonder if the hack's surname is of any significance. A relative of a booted ex Swan perhaps?

The first story sounds like it was written for a Brisbane audience.

This story probably was written for the Brisbane audience or by the Brisbane correspondent. The SMH/AGE/Sunday Herrald has to be national to try to compete with NEWS LTD. The AGE goes into Adelaide & Perth as well as it's original home, Melbourne. SMH goes into Brisbane & Darwin as well as Sydney.

I have absolutely no issue with the Stafford report. I think it is spot on. I was chatting to a chap at half time, a neutral there with some Swans mates, who commented to me that I must be pretty pleased. my respOnse then was that it just felt a bit surreal and that I had no idea whether the Swans were actually playing well because the Lions had truly been that bad.

I disagree with that the reason why a lot of the lions played badly was because they all got tagged and tagged well and they were out coached with the positioning of meritt, the midfield structure and pretty much everything they did in the first half, yes you can argue that they had a bad game but a lot of the reason was how we were able to shut down right off the bat their best players.

When the Swannies hit form like that it usually lasts for 3-4 weeks so next week against the Tiges will answer the question. We were due to click and Brisbane didn't turn up till half time so I think its a bit of both.

I have a feeling that this game is one that looked completely different on TV to live at the ground. To me it was apparent that the Lions were close to stationery for most of the first half and the Swans' intensity was just normal, not the manic effort that usually exists in such a one sided contest.

Yeah they didnt really turn up to play but some of our players were the reason why their midfield didnt touch the ball in the first quarter.
Bird on Rich, Shaw on power and i am not sure who was on black.

I think you are right Liz, even Roos was commenting on how bad Brisbane were and I thought he was quite restrained when it came to praise of the Swans. Maybe he was just trying hard to be impartial because of his old mate next to him in the box

As an aside, Al said in the pre-game that he was wearing a red and white tie out of respect to his old skipper standing beside him. Maybe it created bad mojo for the lions, I don't know, but they were non-competitive in the first half. But our players deserve to take the credit for a committed performance.

When did you pencil in the time to pen this post. I note that puns seem to be the staple diet of RWO posters of late.

I thought the Swans were A1 and the Lions were A4 especially in the first quarto. The Swans were the rulers of the game and by half time they had a hole punched in the game. Horse in his first year in office works a few miracles when he needed to.

if you want to get insights into the swans you dont really read most newpaper articles and reports anyway. Id rather come on here and big footy and see how other fans view the side.
I think some people care way too much on how we are written about or talked about in the press.
