On tv it looked like our midfield took complete control of the game in the first half, racked up a big enough lead and then played posession footy in the second half, possibly to cut down on fatigue and possible injuries, or because they were buggered?

Seemed that way to me too. I'm not complaining about the game overall, believe me - it was a pleasure to watch a non-heartstopper (favouring us). But I wish we wouldn't have done our usual "take the foot off the pedal" 3rd quarter thing, and instead continued blowing it into a truly colossal (well, moreso) send-them-off-the-field-whimpering blowout.

Like I said, I'm not whinging (too much). I hope we get quite a few more games like this one this season!

I echo Liz's thoughts on the feeling at the game. I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. There wasn't any sense of urgency or hardness from the Lions and they gave us so much time in that first half. Was pretty ordinary effort from them. I would have been filthy if they were my team (oh wait....Round 9....arrrgghhhh)
I was really happy with the effort from the Swans in that they didn't let anyone have an easy possession and worked hard for each other.

Sorry - far be it from me to pull it back to the subject, almost, but, funnily enough - I noticed in the melbourne press over brekkie after the boo-a-roo game, all the media could talk about was how bad norfs were and how many goals they missed from within 20 metres - there was a graph and everything. Half a page of absolute crap!! They never spoke about our gutsy defence of 1 point for 20 minutes at all. Very disappointing.
Same thing last week in the Brisvegas rag ... were we even there? I'm pretty sure I was and I'm pretty sure I saw a shellacking.
Had to wait till I got my Sun Herald to read what really happened.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Now, back off the subject ... the swannies were running around like it was a training session.
I had to be pinched to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
              It just looked too easy.

If they can manage that again for at least most of the the rest of the season - mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Pretty much how I saw it too.
It's all about how Nth lost the game, not how it was won.

Isn't that the story of our lives though?

Put the 2 articles together and you almost have a balanced view.

The first one really tries to say the obvious ... Michael Voss has no idea how to construct a game plan or how to modify tactics during a game. On the other hand, Swans coaching panel clearly thought out their match-ups. Especially the excellent call to put LRT deep up forward to take away Merritt's rebounding. I think the Lions players have lost their mojo because they have little faith in their coach, hence they don't turn up to play and only respond in the 2nd half after they get a blast.

The second article is also one-sided, hardly mentioning the Lions.

Summary: We were a bit better than normal and looked a better balanced line up; Lions were beaten before they ran onto the ground.
CIA Agent to Policeman: "Have you ever had anti-terrorist training?"
Policeman: "Yes, I was married once."
