I think this says it all, I'm all for playing the young blokes as I don't reallly think we are a flag chance this year, but you have to get to the finals to really find out.We weren't supposed to beat Carlton last year, or North the year b4 that, so you never know who is going to fold, many teams get to the finals and get the Colliwobbles (hehehehehehehehehe) so to speak, so ythere is always a chance

Have you spoken to any Richmond fans lately Sauce?
We may have become complacent about making the finals but I assure you that many fans from other clubs would love their team to make the eight and take part in a finals match.
We can't take for granted the great effort our players put in every week and even though they might not be the most talented side they should be rewarded for their efforts by playing in the finals again.
We shouldn't devalue their efforts just because they don't finish top four.Comment

I personally love the Finals when Sydney qualify.
I have retained a determined wish not missed a Swans Finals game. Consequently I have not missed one since 1999. That's meant for me as a Sydneysider, two trips to Perth, one to Adelaide, and eight Melbourne visits in the past dozen years. Loved every minute of such travelling occasions.
I also love the tradition of Australian football Finals, (also applicable for the NRL). It keeps most clubs and the hundreds of thousands of fans interested for most of the season. Lest we ever go to the English Premier League boring system of first-past-the-post, strictly home and away Premiers.
I further love the playing the national anthem. Love the more competitve nature of Finals football.
Finally, I love that thought that notwithstanding the fact that your team finished 8th, maybe, just maybe, this is the season for a fairytale finish. Maybe your team will break a preceedent and break through and win the Flag!Comment

Soo....my OP still stands..are we all content to play finals or even hope we play finals..so we can be walloped (or how about the usual team x is up by 50 points with 10 mins to go and we kick 3 junk time goals to make the scoreline flatter us)

I think Carlton sounds like they would be the ideal team for you, at least till they start tanking again then you can find the next BIG THING teams band wagon to jump on.Comment

The Righteous Often Laughingly Lose..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

If anything i think you AL are the one trying to convince yourself and others that I am a troll. Not surprising tbh.
No I am not a troll as much as you want to believe i am.
I just don't feel the need to see every aspect of the sydney swans with rose coloured glasses. I know this irks the most die hard passionate nuffy but I really couldn't care less TBH. If you want to support the club that way - go ahead - just don't expect everyone to follow the team in the same manner.
I get enough of that sillyness down here with one eye Victorian supporters who over rate their team by at least 250%.Comment

Sauce i haven't bothered to read the whole thread so sorry if this has already come up. I understand that you are frustrated that IF we make the finals we will just make up the numbers, which i believe this season is all we will do, and I also believe we have not improved from last year. But I don't get why you are posting all this, from what I've read you haven't come up with any solutions, only problems. Do you suggest we trade half our list, recruit well persist with our current list, target youth or tank???I See It But I Don't Believe It!!!!Comment
