Was at the 1945, 1996, and 2005 grand finals, and the euphoria experienced at the final siren after a 70 odd year wait was indescribable. Just wondering if any other RWO:s were at the 1945 bloodbath

I know of an ex poster here who's father was at the game.
He has pretty vivid memories of the game.
He's describe some of them to me when I've met him.
I've also read The Bloodbath: The 1945 VFL Grand Final, Ian W. Shaw.
A great read.
But I was nopt there my self.
We'd love to here some of your memories of the game, and the players.
PS: your usename gives you away for the 1945 era. -
One of the most amazing finals.
Before my time, though. I know plenty of people say that if we'd won, the Swans might still be in Melbourne.
Here's the Argus coverage of both the match and the reports.

Scott. I have a few clear memories of the game which was played at Princes Park, the MCG being taken over By the U S army as a barracks for their troops.
Ted Whitfield. A real classy winger pulling his jumper off after a melee and running down the ground so the umpire couldnt take his number
Ron Clegg a future Brownlow medallist knocked out by Carleton captain Bob Chitty.
Jack Williams KO"ing Ken Hands away from the play.
Laurie Nash generally regarded at the time to be the greatest ever to have played V F L knocking out Bob Chitty as a retaliation for the Clegg incident. When Chitty recovered he was moved to the forward line and was instrumental in kicking 2 goals and consolidating Carltons lead.
Ken Hands coming back on after being stretchered off after the Williams incident. and having an impact in the second half
Most of all disappointment
There should have been many more reports but it was all too much for the one field umpire. The Swans went into the game as hot favourites having finished on top in a four teams finals. Carleton won from fourth spot beating North Melb who had made the finals for the first time then Collingwood and the SwansComment

Thanks for sharing that Alex.
I've just researched Laurie Nash today, and he would've been 35 with gammy knee(s).
Would have been great to see him at the height of his career.
My funniest memory from reading the book, Was when the Carlton play (Hands??) entered the tribunal room of the South player, whilst the tribunal was meeting, and asked if he wanted to finish things off outside.Comment
