I wondered whether he may have been the only travelling emergency. If so, I think the blame lies completely on the selection panel, as imo he should never have been the travelling emergency. LJ looked ok last week and I would also put Moore in front of him. At least LJ has a booming kick on him- something Everitt sadly lacks. I really wonder if they are trying to save face by continually playing Everitt as apart from getting lucky against West Coast, he has shown nothing to suggest he is up to AFL standard.

Longmire said that Smith felt hamstring soreness on Friday but was expected to play. Was the team already in Adelaide on Friday?

Actually I am not defending that piece of play but equally sam Reid might have done more to have protected everitt at the time. Johncock had both of them for pace and a ball on the deck only needed johncock to slide and kill the ball. But yes Reid really did need to kick that

He's not a sub, he's not an impact player, he's a mark-taking, lead-up forward who needs to play a full game in order to have an impact. If Longmire can't get that through his head, then....
Yeah, I agree, he's just so wrong as a sub. He's an ordinary, marking, mid sized forward, who on occasion can be useful...But not as a sub on a wet night !!
Once they knew Smith was doubtful, and the weather wet...Surely Moore should of made the trip as a replacement.

Spida would be happy. As over-rated and over-paid as he was, he's no longer even the worst Everitt in the history of the club.

I wonder if hypothetically there was an injury in the warm-up, or some such like that after Smith was ruled out. Would Smith just have to come back into the team? I suppose such a case would make the sub more palatable, as the injured player could play half a match (or as much as able) without hampering the rotations too much.

Can only surmise he was selected as travelling emergency - that there was little chance he would play. Can't see how he was selected ahead of LJ at any rate.

Think it's a long road back to the 1st's for him.

Probably would have been better off with a one legged Smith anyway
