    Channel 10/ONE footy programs

The Final Siren was not on ONE in Sydney last Sunday. Does anyone know if the program has been axed? Also ONE doesn't show AFL in HD in Sydney anymore - is this the same in other cities?

From what I understand 10 will no longer be showing AFL in HD anywhere. I'm not familiar with the Final Siren but it's in the news today that 10/One are cutting a number of shows and offering redundancies. I'm glad I have Foxtel as their footy shows thru the week are pretty good and its nice to be able to have a choice in what games I watch on the weekend - for me its worth the money anyway....

Final Siren wasn't on yesterday either so it's not looking good. I thought it must have been because the Netball was on last night but in light of the comment from last week it might be gone. Ch 10 (ONE) has also bumped its AFL programmes (in Sydney) to later time slots because of the NRL shows of the same name. On Monday nights, One Week at a Time (NRL) is on at 9.30 pm whereas One Week at a Time (AFL) is on at either 1.00 or 2.00 am Tuesday morning. On Thursday nights, The Game Plan (NRL) is on at 8.30 pm whereas the The Game Plan (AFL) generally starts around midnight. Note that both the NRL and AFL shows are replayed the following days in afternoon time slots.
Also, I notice that the pre match show, "Before the Game" which was being shown live on ONE (around 6.00 to 6.30 pm Saturday nights) appears to now only be shown on CH 10 somewhere around 2.00 am Sunday morning.
Disappointing because CH10/ONE was showing a far greater commitment to AFL at least on its secondary digital stations, than we were getting from CH 7.
Now that CH 10 has missed out on AFL for next year they may downgrade even further and put more resources into NRL coverage. More's the pity.

With Little Murdoch now owning half of ten/ONE and with his massive dislike of the code expect too see next to no AFL on Ten/ONE next year. This means an early wind up of AFL programs this year. Expect more NRL on one and more movies - less sport.

It's a shame as they were doing a lot more of promoting the code in non afl states than ch 7 ever were.
