Sorry, but I didn't think much of his game, then again our forward delivery was terrible at times. I felt sorry for Reid trying to collect half volleys all the time.

      Smug.

He was having a ball, he was useful and is a great foil for the Kid, there was a difference in the forward line when he went of "tweaked", his celebrations after the match with his red drink were that of a man who loves being a Swan.

Ain't that the truth. Jesse would have been burning I reckon. He's a Gold Coast boy right? Bet he would have been primed to play up there in the Seniors last night. But you're right, we still have major delivery problems.

          Played well.
          Already outshone Jesse
It looked to me from the tele (hard to tell, obviously) that he wasn't playing the same role as Jesse, though?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

White > Spangher by a long way.

Coach just needs to keep him away from the ruck!

The guy barely took the field after half time after straining his hammy, yet in half a game, and only his third game up forward ever (at least since u18s), he managed to do more than White does in most full games.

Agree. His role was to get the ball. What was Jesse's?

I think he showed enough in the first half to say that if his hammies stand up to the work he will be more than useful moving around the forward line. He put himself into position to take that handpass from Goodes. He knew what to do, where to go and read the play. I don't know that White has worked that stuff out yet.

White would copping a flogging on this board if he played the same game as Spangher did last night

I think it is pretty evident that Longmire, at least for now, thinks White needs to be able to play in the ruck if he is to hold a spot in the senior team. And over the last few reserves games in whcih Jesse has played, it looks to me like it has finally clicked for Jesse that he needs to learn to play in the ruck and, in particular, present around the ground as a target while he is stationed in the ruck. He has seemed to take his rucking responsibilities more seriously, albeit against opposition of a much lower calibre than he will face at senior level.

I still hold out hope - maybe in vain - that there is a longish term role for Jesse in the senior team.
