When you look at those recent results, for us to beat them by 70 points in G.C. and play very ordinary football isn't such a bad result.
Well said. I am glad we won and I think we did well to win this slight danger game by such a good margin. Still things to work on but there seems a bit too much negativity on here from a few people. I'm happy to enjoy the win...

      G.Ablett makes a big difference.

Probably the single player who has the biggest influence on his teams fortune in all the AFL.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

I have to appologise for a rant against Longmire & the selection committee, TDL was injured. But I think they did the wrong thing in even thinking to drop Parker, look at the game he had. I am getting the feeling these blokes can't feel it in their water lol. I got the feeling last week he was building up to a big one & I thought Seabs was really unlucky. LRT didn't do anything Seabs couldn't do! Hannas was good but that on the full was terrible! Benny was very lively but rushes everything all of a sudden when last year he was more composed (and early this year). Reg dominated, they are very young up forward & he exposed that.
By 3/4 time this mob were looking for a lie down due to the toll AFL takes on young bodies. We didn't have much opposition in the last & should have done much more.

The Spang started good and I thought we got another gem but faded away in the second half, he also lost his footing a bit to easily but the commentators were saying it was pretty dewy. Luke Parker was probably the shining light out of this game, thought he was sensational. Grundy, ROK, Hanners and Reid were also played pretty good games. Has Jetta been told to kick and give it off cause I thought there were a few times were he could of taken off but didn't, but saying that his kicking was quiet good? Good to see him also making a few tackles. Mumford completely outplayed an young Smith who suffered from the withdrawal of Fraser but against seasoned ruckmen such as cox, sandilands, etc he needs a better back up than LRT. We still need some serious kicking practice!
Spangher needed the run at this level 7 he will get better & he probably wore the moulded soles which slip on dewy surfaces. Mummy needed a run & I thought it was a bit premature to bring him strait back after 6 weeks & maybe a run in the resies would have been better, although he played well he did pull up a few times a bit winded. LRT is not a second ruck!!!! Seabs would have been better & Mummy would have been more comfortable resting. Our disposal was a bit erratic & goal kicking didn't have a huge improvement even though they practiced on Friday.

btw, Reid is going to be a sensation!
I agree Reid is very exciting & so is Parker, some of those baulks & the shimmy he does leave the opposition not knowing where he is

I thought it was a really poor performance by the Swans, only masked by the fact GC played their worst game of the year(according to Bluey -their coach!)
                Negatives :
Field kicking was erratic at best, both in terms of decision making and execution.
                Goal Kicking hasn't improved
Kennelly was again woeful - must be dropped
Moore was very ordinary - he's just too slow.
                Should of won by 100+
                Positives :
Parker, shows he should never have been dropped in the first place.
Reid , absolutely dominated, albeit against defenders 1 foot shorter.
Spanhger, was lively in the first half, made our forward line look more purposeful... shame about the hamstring.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

We would have got flogged had we played any other team.
Can't disagree with much of this. Other than the Sammy and Nosey Show it was deadset rubbish Seaworld is gonna have to be pretty bloody good to compensate for that dross.

Even though we won by 70 ... it was a "lucky" win.

                    Our skills are woeful.

Bulldog hitting the post was rewound about 10 times. Hilarious!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The conditions at Metricon were positively Siberian last nite. A frosty 3 degrees. Prob just as well, it kept the crowd awake. Nice stadium but.

It was an unconvincing win, that's for sure. I don't know how Jetta keeps his place in the team, because he just won't chase and tackle when he clearly has the opportunity to do so. And regarding our forward line woes, we could do much worse than shift McVeigh up there. He seems comfortable in that position.

There were some points made earlier about us being 2005 defensive, this I partially agree with. Wasteful, I agree. What I hate is this forward zone on their kick ins. There were quite a few occassions last night when a good switched on unit would have broken us apart & exposed us on the overlap. Two to three players zoning up on one of theirs leaving at least one of their players free. Carlton, Hawthorn, Geelong & to a lesser extent Collingwood exposed us that way due to that zone. When Horse switched to a man on man in the second half against the Pies we played really well. A zone is put in place when you don't trust your players to compete one on one with other sides. Horse doesn't trust our blokes but he is wrong they are good one on one & I wish he would realise it & get rid of the zone & be more compatitive against the better teams.

Some negatives about the commentary, but as a whole we enjoyed it. They actually commentated on the game!!!!! What a change!!!!! They "ex footy players" actually knew what they were talking about, ok they did trip over place/date/names a few times, but they actually commentated on the GAME! With knowledge! and a lack of obvious biais. No snide asides. No trying to out do each other with painful and inappropriate and misdirected funnies. Noone asking "didn't he" at the end of every comment. It was a blessed relief.

A personal note on Parker: he hasn't shown what he could do on his previous outings. He got dropped. He obviously showed what he can do when he wants it badly enough. Good lesson for the kid, and oh I did enjoy his shimmy ah la Harvey. We got a keeper.

Also, not mentioned I don't think but I liked what Dan was doing. Perhaps the kids have been standing back because "jude is in the house".

I too thought commentary was good. Roo made a blunder by caling us StKilda, but that is an obvious slip of the tongue.

Soooo much better then 'time on' and 'position a' Dwayne Russell....
