I am happy to have Goodes and McVeigh continue as captains. I agree however that neither seem to be particularly good on-field leaders, at least not in the way that Kirk was, in being able to rally the troops as well as play a great game themselves. Maybe we could go back to 3 captains, making sure the 3rd one was a good on-field organiser and general - sounds like Moore would fit the bill perfectly but it doesn't look like this is going to be an option.

I have always been puzzled as to why Jude has missed out on being a captain.

Me too. Not sure about his communication skills. They seem pretty good when I've heard him talk, but his actions on the field show leader quality.
And see how much we miss him in 2 weeks.

Like Kirk, not highly skilled, but a valuable team member.

Might come down to the fact that he just didn't want it. He does show all the qualities of a good captain but he may have thought the extra burden would affect his game.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

            Future captains; Jack or Kennedy?
            Long Term; Hannas, Parker

There is a precedent in picking a young captain, the Hawks picked Shane Crawford when he was only a nipper in a developing team (unfortunately for them Schwab & the recruiters weren't up to it)

I would have loved to have seen Bolts as captain, however I think a real smokie would have been Shaw. I admit he is not the best player and probably not fantastic with his presentation either, but as I understand it, it is Shaw who seems to be the glue for a lot of the players there. Maybe more of a traditional vice captain (as opposed to his brother who is captain of vice).
