Is it just me or is anyone else thinking that the perception that the Swans are favored by a wet game is wrong. I don't think I've seen us advantaged by the wet this year, I actually think we play much better in the dry
Another wet game?

We haven't won in the wet since the Semi v Eagles in 2004...and even that was only a downpour in the middle of it (was it wet in the thriller v Port when Schmidt kicked the winner a couple of years ago?) This is because the team with the highest skills is favoured in the wet...not the team that likes to keep things in close. we have the worst skills in the league other than Brissie and Port. For skills read ABILITY TO PICK UP THE @#$#@@in' PILL!!! And ABILITY TO MARK OR OTHERWISE RECEIVE THE PILL!!!! And ABILITY TO KICK THE PILL. We suck in all these areas, but manage to win quite a few games in the dry because we are very disciplined triers. We leads to terrible trouble in the wet as we are so well drilled that, to a man, we cannot change our style of play and play wet weather footy like all the other teams do. We still do stupid dinky handballs and kick across goal etc, etc, etc....and stuff around trying to finesses instead of KICKING IT THROUGH THE BIG BLOODY STICKS!!!!!! See Adelaide game, Carlton game, Geelong game to name a few. IN every single game we give up at least 3 really dumb, stupid easy goals...other teams average 1. In the wet our tally doubles. Is that answer enough? Still cannot believe that Bevan was EVER picked again after that debacle against Carlton (Shakes Head!!!)"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Yep, it's an absolute myth.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Playing in the wet is no advantage for us. The weather is just a signal to the other team that it is all about contested ball, not fancy stuff. Thus we get matched in our trademark attitude of getting down and dirty. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

It annoys the crap out of me when the media continually roll out "the wet weather will play into the hands of the swans".... Bollocks!
The only reason they believe that is because we play stoppage based football (not as much these days though), and the wet weather creates more stoppages.
BUT! the fact of the matter is, we struggle to adjust the wet weather football, we overuse the ball, rather than just bang it long.
Leigh Matthews Brisbane side were wet weather specialists.Ed Considine's day out - Round 3, 16th April 1995.
11 Kicks, 13 Handballs, 8 Marks, 1 Goal, 1 Behind, 1 Tackle, 1 Hitout, 3 Brownlow votes (his only votes)

That final against Geelong in 2005 was only wet because the groundstaff watered the oval.... morons.Ed Considine's day out - Round 3, 16th April 1995.

Aside from how abysmal we've been at the SCG this year, it just isn't fun sitting in cruddy weather to boot. Then losing just makes it all even worse.
Adding further to the woe is that:
- Carlton beat their SCG hoodoo which stretched back to 1993
- Hawthorn won here for the first time since 2003
- Cats won first game at SCG since 2002 (ok, they've not seen the place since 2005, but anyway)
- Freo have won back to back games here, after not winning here since 1996!!. Oh the horror!
If your home ground is meant to be your fortress, ours is a smoking ruin at the moment.
Can't remember a season in the last twenty years where so many home games have been ruined by the weather. Combined with the appalling home form, makes selling memberships an uphill battle for next year.Comment
