    Byron gone?

    Hope everything's okay with him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Hope he works out whatever is on his mind and takes his time, more to life than footy

Woah. Hope all is well with Byron and the Family. He has been playing really well this year and I could see him getting more Senior game time in the near future. Don't give up Byron - the hardest moments can come when you are closest to achieving your goals.

Just saw that story. He's a very young guy with a young baby. Must be hard away from his family.
Hope he gets the clarity he needs.

That doesn't sound too good for his future with us. Commitment is a big word to use. I would say one of the Adelaide sides will be ready to trade for him. I would doubt very much if we see him in the red and white again given he was probably on a 2 year contract.

Makes our mandatory 3 delistings a soda this year.

Brings back memories of that other young kid we had many years ago - Fred Campbell who we drafted in 1997.

After a few years and showing initial potential he had much the same story and the Swans released him on compassionate grounds because he wanted to go back home to Darwin.

Next year he turns up in the pre-season draft at St Kilda. I think only lasted a year.

I hope Sumner stays with us and sorts things out in his life but past experiences still flavour my opinion of the present.

Good luck Uncle. Easy to chat to, and willing to do so. Hope he comes back. However.....

Jetta is in exactly the same position yet at 4:30 pm last Sunday afternoon when the SCG was empty apart from a few old stragglers from the After Match, there was Jetta and TDL out on the SCG training.

There was another talented young indigenous fella who got homesick and wanted to go back home. Michael O'something. He turned out alright.

Homesickness is a bugger, but with time and support I reckon he could come round. And if not, then it's just not meant to be. Hope it turns out the best for him whatever the case.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I am very disappointed to read this. Henry has been pumping his tyres up in recent reserves reports, commenting how they have told him that improving his endurance needs to be his main goal and noting that he has been working harder than anyone else at the club on the training track to work on this. The club clearly believes he has long term senior potential.

I am sure plenty of young players have this problem adjusting. Some drift away from their clubs and never make it. Some go and come back - Chris Tarrant springs to mind. Some stick it out, like Micky O has suggested (though he has always talked about how he loved playing, it was just homesickness that was initially an issue). Others go and play at a lower level for a couple of years and then force their way back onto senior list, like Simon Phillips.

I hope he works out what he wants, whether that is football or not.

Ah, that's who it was. Good on them.

Don't think it is homesickness per se liz; he is pretty young so it adds up that his partner is and of course the baby is too. The poor bloke is probably handling a relationship issue that takes priority over us. And so he should.

Seem to be a fairly regular story with country and indigenous players.
                              Hope he sorts it out.
