    RWOWIKI - Season 1988

Middle of the road season, would have made the finals in the current finals format.

Season 1988 - RWOwiki, Sydney Swans Wiki,Sydney Swans Season 1988

The only season I've missed completely.

One might think a side with Williams, Murphy, Bolton, Mitchell, Healy and Wright in the midfield, Cordy, Roberts, Toohey and Carroll at the back and Morwood up forward should have done far better. However, keep in mind that they'd just lost Hawke, Browning, Capper, Ironmonger and Neagle, while Holden was about finished.

Having Davis out for half the season didn't help, and when your forward targets are Moose Henwood and Glenn Coleman, you're in trouble (though the latter did pretty well).

They also didn't have a replacement for Ironmonger , and wound up trying Parsons, Smith, Byrne, Willis, Coleman and Henwood in the ruck - none of whom managed to do particularly well.

Don't knock the Moose he was a great character in the dark days. Has been on the judiciary down here of late, now a qualified solicitor I believe. Still remember a push and shove with the Carlton Madden (what a sap, a dud corrupt poli too) the Moose holding Harry's guernsey and willing him to try something if he fancied his chances....of course he did not.
Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun

I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl Warren

He's a barrister; I've seen him in court occasionally. Nice man, just not my ideal CHF.
