Lack of Coaching Experience in Out Coaching Panel

I have just read the experience of our coaching panel. Longmire doesn't have anything after his role or Coach but it should have said Assistant Coach Sydney Swans.
    [B]
Stewart Dew; First Job as Assistant Coach

[B]Mark Stone; Coach Wagga Tigers '99-2000, South Freemantle Assistant Coach '01-'02, Eagles Stoppage & Opposition Annalyst '03-'07, Swans Stoppage Coach '08>

[B]Leigh Tudor; Calder Cannons Asst Coach '01-'03, western Jets Coach '04, Cats VFL Coach '05-'09, St Kilda Asst Coach '10

John Blakey; Presume First Job as Asst

Henry Playfair;Development Coach/Reserves Coach, First Year Coach

Stewart Maxfield;Development Coach, First Job as Asst

That from the Swans site but I thought Stewie worked on setting up the Swans Acadamy & also as Defence Coach. There is a glaring lack of detail on the site as to the experience & time spent at Swans or otherwise except for Stone & Tudor. Even Horse has no detail next to his name.

Now the coaching experience might just be far greater than I am reading but the detail is not on the site. I would love to see Stewie Dew doing specialist Forward Drills & Goal Kicking Instruction for our blokes. Not because he was a forward but because he was the ultimate kick for goal both on the run & set shot. Beautiful ball hold & fantastic level drop.

Leigh Tudor wasn't a slouch in front of the sticks either & could also instruct on technical aspects of goal kicking

John Blakey should be taking care of the Defense as that was where he played most of his career.

I think Henry & Maxi are doing a great job for a couple of rookies coaching the resies.

Leigh Tudor I believe had some responsibility for the Falcons when he was at Geelong who had a measure of success plus they have developed players pretty well down there. You do make a good point here, Port Adelaide lost almost all their rated assistants over a year or two and probably slipped in form prior to their players going off. I think Blakey might have coached elsewhere briefly but he has been with us a long time. There are some gun coaching panels out there, this does not seem to be one!
One of my contentions with the plethora of coaches we have (and pay well) is how do we make such basic errors in kickouts and tactical/structural matters. Etihad is a good spot to sight the amount of bodies and laptops we have going, doesn't seem to help much at present!

I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl Warren

+1 -- not because he was a forward, but because he was a dangerous forward.

Who is our current forwards coach?
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

If we are going to judge assistant coaches by their experience then surely Collingwood have one of the worst in the league

I know it's probably been said before but when you see Stuey out on the field before the game kicking the ball - gee he is a great kick. Bloody beautiful.

Isn't he! I have great hope that somehow players of his physique will continue to find a way into footy. Always a favourite.

I think that him coaching the back line is fantastic. As one of the most dangerous forwards in the game at his peak who better to drill that back line into how to play.
I watch a few games each weekend and we aren't the only team struggling to kick. When you see the coke zero footage I don't think our training drills are a problem.
Are players too fatigued in the game to kick accurately on the run and take set shots. Other than those arsey shots from the boundary that go through of course.
Perhaps Kirky needs to come back and teach them breathing and relaxation techniques to slow their heart rate and focus on all those things mentioned above that Dew has to take kicks.

                      collingwood Coaching Panel

                      Mick=No need to explain

Mark Neeld; 74 games Geelong & Richmond, Coach Western Jets U19's Comp, Coach Golden Grove ion the peninsula League 2000-2003 foue premierships, 2008 Defensive coach now Midfield Coach

Scott Watters; Head Coach Subiaco Footy Club in the WAFL three Grand Finals 2007-2009 Premierships in 2008 & 09, Coach WA state team 2008-2009 victories over SA & Qld, 2010 Defensive Coach

                      Nathen Buckley; Mick Proteg'e

Matthew Lappin; three seasons Assistant at Carlton,

Tarkyn Lockyer; Another Mick Proteg'e, Forward Coach

Craig McRae; One year at Brisbane

Max Hughton; Direct from retirement Assisting with the backline

I think the difference is the two blokes at the top with Mick have proven track records at winning premierships. They aer expert coaches in their own right and are learning even more under Mick. i would love to get hold of Scottie Watters in the next couple of years as senior coach up here as U think he knows how to win the big ones.

Is Nathan Buckley Coach of Collingwood? The last time I looked it was Mick Malthouse! It will be Buckley next year & then they can go strait to the bottom again the same as they always do when they pick a favoutite son to coach their side.

He must be the best possible coach as he steps into the job as soon as the current one's contractual obligations are fulfilled.

It makes the Swans succession plans look very sensible indeed.

Nathan Buckley was picked even before he could demonstrate whether he was going to have a knack of coaching or not. He hadn't even been an assistant for a season when the announcement was made. I have heard rumours that the whole thing irked Mick big time as he thought there were several better candidates for a succession at that stage. The Collingwood footy club also put Mick in the position of teaching Buckley when trying to win premierships. I get the feeling Buckley is Micks protege whether Mices it or not.

A panel of RWO people could coach that team at the moment. Might take a few years for him to drop.
