Unorthodox kicking style it is. However, he gets all the fundamentals right, so more often than not, he hits the target.

I only notice it when he goes for those little short passes, his kicks which need to travel any sort of distance appear fine. I'm sure he'll work on it over the summer.

Barry Hall is another one who had a weird ass style with his short passes which more often than not landed at the bootlaces of teammates on the lead.

AJ's kicking is fine. His short passing technique is exactly the same as Kirk's was. Not super penetrating but accurate and well-weighted.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

AJ's effort on the weekend to run to space then straighten up with the pass to Bird was sensational. Certainly deserves a RS nom but who cares, we've picked up one of those very rare commodities, a quality utility tall with a bargain basement draft pick.

I think Adam does enough most weeks but hasn't had a good year this year but generally he is always around the mark. I am talking about players like Nick Davis & Hawthorn's Bob Keddie who were both super talented but went missing for great periods, sometimes weeks. When they did come good they could break games apart & win the game off their own boot but in the long run it is not enough.

One of the articles this week mentioned AJ as being in a logjam with a few others still waiting for nomination. His betting price to win is still a bit better than some who have already been nominated (!). Also Gary Rohan is eligible too!! (His name is on one of the long lists)

AJ is a defensive rock in the making. Considering how low in the draft we picked him up and how well he has done in his first year, any early qualms about his kicking should be considered as something to work on as a worst case option. Longmire's faith in him has to be considered as a tick in the "plus" column when Horse's first year as senior coach is assessed by the fans - and the club for that matter.

If Goodes doesn't get 16+ Charlie votes I'll be very surprised!
