    Taylor Walker

Interesting comments from Hutchy on Footy Classifieds last night.
He mentioned the swans were pushing hard for Walker, with GWS def ruling him out.

I think he would be great for us in our forward line to compliment Sammy Reid, TDL, McGlynn etc...

Noted goal kicker and a big body as well....

    thoughts anyone

Initially wasn't keen but am warming to the idea. Will he be better than Lewis Johnston?

He would be perfect fit if he's willing and we have the cash. We need another marking forward. I'd much prefer to see Goodes in the midfield and than as a leadup forward.

There does seem to be a conveyor belt between Walker's SANFL club Norwood and the Swans. They gave us Crouch, Fosdike and Reg and became the home of Dale Lewis, Simon Phillips, Dean Terlich and Stephen Doyle after they left the Swans.

LJ needs a good run with injuries to see what he has to offer long term. At his best I love the way he plays. His kicking is sublime (I love that word) and from what i've seen in the Ressies his decision making is pretty good. He just needs sine luck with injuries.

As for Taylor Walker... Yes please. If it's a no from GWS then we'd be mad not pursue him.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

LJ would almost certainly have to be part of the deal for Adelaide to part with Walker IMO. I don't want to lose him but really if we bring in Walker there will be even less opportunities for LJ in our forward line and he's already behind Teddy, Reg, AJ and LRT in terms of the backline...

Adelaide will want a lot from us for Walker and I'm certain that LJ will be part of their demand if they are to release Walker. Hope we can keep him.

However, depending on what we have to give up for Walker, I would rather hold on to LJ and give him more of a go than give up overs for Walker.

Heuskis played there as well. And Matthew Davis went back there after his Sydney stint. Bob Hammond played for the Redlegs and then coached us for 8 games in 1984

Hammond played the majority of his career at North Adelaide only having one season at Norwood but coached them to premierships in 1975 (I was at that game we was robbed) and 1978. Hammond took over the Swans when they were floundering on the bottom of the ladder & had all kinds of trouble of the financial kind. He got the Swans playing a decent game of footy and basically did the job out of friendship. He would have been appointed full time coach but due to business commitments was not available so the Swans appointed Ronald Dale Barrassi. Replacing one legend for another, one midfielder for a backman in the team of the century. Hammond was made back pocket in the team of the century but in reality was one of the toughest full backs in Australian Football history. Funnily enough Heuskis started at Norwood and ended at North Adelaide.

How many draft picks and good players are Adelaide going to want for the recalcitrant Walker. I know we have taken players with discipline problems in the past and made good boys of them but do we need to do so again. What would be the cost of Taylor Walker? LJ & our first 2 draft picks I would say is what they would have in mind or possibly Currie, LJ & Heath or McCaigue. All the players we have been developing, is he really worth it. We could offer up Byron Sumner as he seems to want to go back home.

Scott Direen is another with the Norwood connection, as was Robert Neill who went to StKilda as part of the Plugger deal...

You might be on to something with Sumner.

It could have started in 1957 when dual B&F winner Jim Taylor (No 20) went to play for them for a year before returning to the Swans. (BTW he also played for SA that year and was named an All Australian).
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Maybe LJ, Uncle + Pick. We have the luxury of having players that wouldn't mind going back to S.A. Everyone else wants to leave S.A. ATM.

I'll admit I'm firmly in the 'What's all the fuss about?' camp with Walker (ie. not a huge fan), but I'd be reticent to swap just LJ for him, let alone Sumner and a pick as well.

I have to admit Trip, I am a little with you on this one because I've never really seen him. I guess I have to trust the scouts (not the Baden-Powell variety) who have seen a bit of him and are apparently making a play.
