I'd really like to get Walker to us, but by the same token, really want to keep LJ. I know this doesn't offer a solution, but I don't have one......
The only obvious player with trade currency that is surplus to requirements is Seaby. He's a solid tap ruckman but clearly the number 2 to Mumford and offers very little else around the ground so can't play as a second ruck with Mummy.

Capable rucks are usually sought after by a few clubs at draft time and you'd imagine that a GWS side filled mainly from the draft would struggle to find a ruck ready to play from day one. This could either bring the Swans a good youngster or provide some currency for a trade for an established player such as Walker.

When the midfield isn't getting ball, it's hard for a FF to get involved.

Walker averages 2.2 goals per victory, as opposed to 1.9 per game overall. To put that in perspective for you, this year Jack Riewoldt averages 4 goals per victory, as opposed to 2.9 overall. In 2010, he averaged 4.8 goals per victory, as opposed to 3.5 overall. It's the same for any key forward, particularly in struggling teams. You want to know our very own Sam Reid's breakdown? 1.3 goals per victory, as opposed to 0.8 overall. He has kicked a grand total of 2 goals in our losses.

I think you're going a little hard on him.
Understatement! This kid could be anything! I believe he comes from Broken Hill so the Bloods Ethos might resonate with him more than the Chardonay Crows. How picky do we want to be with forwards? I don't see a huge list of available Forwards out there! Let's grab him! Crows can have White , Sumner ,Everitt and Bevan for him

They can have Jesse. His girlfriend is an Adelaide girl I believe.
The questions is: will LJ want to wait around for his opportunties?

Key position forwards don't grow on trees. If Adelaide wanted Sam Reid what would Sydney want in return? That's what Adelaide will want for Walker. I'm not trolling by suggesting we will need to give quality to get quality. If we trade for Walker expect a lot of surprised and disappointed Swan fans at what we have to give up in return.

LJ has been in the system for a few years (I know he's had injuries..maybe he's just injury prone). Played a couple of games in the seniors but couldn't hold his spot. At the moment I'd rate LJ as a swap for a 2nd round draft pick so I'd keep him and hope he improves.

If we trade Sam Reid for Walker I would rip up my membership permanately. No way on earth we would trade Reid unless he wanted out and he would have every club knocking on his door. I think we should try and trade for walker as I think he would fit nicely in our forward line.

I really don't think the Crows would be silly enough to even bother requesting Sam Reid. There is surely no way in hell that our club would even consider such a move given the prowess and general smarts we've shown in recruiting and retaining players over the last decade.

Guys I don't think there's any point in even wasting time talking about Reid... no club in their right mind let alone ours would ever think about trading him.

I think AnsweredPrayers was just trying to make a point and perhaps chose the wrong player to make that point with.

reid would not be a consideration for trade from us.
But you would have think as i have mentioned sumner who is form there and is feelign the effects of home sickness etc..so someone like him would be worthwhile putting up..

AnsweredPrayers didn't imply that we should trade Reid for Walker.

Without offering silly trades (eg Reid for Walker) we should do what we can to get Walker into the red and white.
Lots of talent, will help "straighten" the team up and can kick a goal.
Him and Reid would be a very good forward combination in a few years.

Five pages of replies to the OP and no mention of the "other" Taylor Walker - that would certainly distract most key defenders and leave more space for Sammy, LJ, et al...

Not mentioned because it goes without saying. All the discussion about us not having a forward structure implies that we don't have these multi avenues to goal giving the opposition a match up headache. IMO you need marking talls eg Sammy Reid, crumbers eg McGlynne, goal creating skilled players eg TDL and a muscle man to hold the ball ineg LRT.I would also like a straight old fashioned lead ,mark and kick goal player eg LJ?
All of the above need to be superb goal kickers.

Taylor Walker would fit into this structure well and give the others a break.Spangher looks a likely prospect to replace LRT and Mike Pyke could become a marking forward ..a la Brown type. Lamb could become a crumber.

What is frustrating is that we are heading to the Finals without a forward structure. Its makeshift.

We could build a forward line around Reid and Walker for the next 10 years.

Imagine not having to worry aboyt that part of our side for that period of time. It would be a fantastic luxury to have.

On BF Melbourne board Walker is being traded for Sylvia...........i guess that puts an end to either of them coming to Sydney. Next speculative trade thread please !!!
