I just don't want any midyear midseason signings ( I think it is illegal in our game anyway, I hope) like the NRL. I really don't understand the rugby league allowing this to happen, it opens up all sorts of dissention in clubs, players and fans. Really a blight on any game. I know it is to do with money, business and sponsership but we have been going well without all that. I also would not like to see any of our players go but it is a fact of life that things happen at the end of the year. Swans have to work hard to keep the likes of Reid, TDL, Rohan, Johnstone and co.. Watch out for Sheedy lol he is as cunning as a gutter rat. Great innovator but cunning nonetheless.

The club reckons the Daily Terrograph's list is a loada rubbish.

It always is Liz, they make up things as they go along. You only have to read the journalists it employs to write, no research and half baked theories. The Herald Sun its sister paper in Melbourne is exactly the same, sensationalise everything and create stories from thin air.

Same with Nick Smith.
          I take umbrage.

Nick Smith's intangibles are very, very tangible. I don't think anyone would overlook one of the best young defenders in the league.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Talk about red and white glasses! He's a good ordinary player, but wouldn't be even be close to the top 100 ranked players in the league even

I like him as a player but if he was the one to be poached (and I highly doubt it), then we would be getting off very lightly

On a performance basis, sure. But he's not a speedster, he's not exquisitely skilled. Like Bird, he gets the job done week in week out, and he's very, VERY good at it, but it's the sort of thing that stands out to those within the club rather than amongst casual observers.

Bull@@@@. Smith is much better than a good ordinary player. He's one of the best stoppers in the league, and would be one of our first picked every week. He's only been beaten once this year, and that was in a 5 minute period against Eddie Betts.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Just saw the story. Unprecedented move from the club to stop all the fans emailing them? Never seen like.

Interesting move by the club to come out and quash it, although I notice that they didn't go through and list the actual contract details for each player which leads me to think that perhaps Mr Reid is not one of those already sorted out. I would expect his management have, understandably, raised with the Swans "sheesh, $750k p.a. for Phil Davis to be a young KPP living in Sydney eh?"

The original article really did seem to be more speculation than anything else, I wonder if he used the RWOWiki for contract info?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The guys doing the scouting for other clubs are not "casual observers'. They know as much about our players as any of us do...and probably more!
                    They'll have reams on Smith!

Good work. Other team spies are always trolling this site for hints on who to target. Nothin' to see here, folks. Move along, move along, I hear Taylor Walker is hot stuff.

The only team poaching Smith would be the Australian Cricket team based on their totally random selections.. Smooches "tangibles" were on display tonight - thought he was great - as he is every week.
He's dogged, determined, with incredible concentration...remind you of anyone?

Loved his game tonight. Rarely makes a bad decision and always cool under huge pressure.
