Best Swan to wear number 2?

Scott may be away sunning himself somewhere in South East Asia, but he'd be heartbroken to think that his "best player to wear..." series was suffering in his absence.

If you need to cheat to remind yourself of who actually wore no 2, here's the link to RWO's resouce of players and numbers.

Anyone guess who Stella might vote for?

Greg Williams. One of the best players I've ever seen.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

It's on a good run at the moment:

        Schwass - Davis - Shaw
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

          Absolutely!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Geez, Thompson, Daniher, Brereton - great players, just sadly didn't do a lot for us (though Thompson was pretty solid in his one season).

Certainly couldn't go past Diesel from those I had the chance to see, though Schwatta is not too far behind.

According to the Wiki list Herbie Matthews first wore No. 2 in 1932 and last wore it in 1969. A 37 year career must be a club record surely ......Diesel was a beauty but my pop used to say Freddy Goldsmith was one of the best ever. Fred was the only specialist Full Back ever to win the Brownlow Medal.

Greg Williams and Wayne Schwass. Nick Davis drove me crazy but my god the boy could play (when he chose to).

An impossible choice really, since Williams only played the 2 years with us and Schwass played out the end of his career here. On his best day Nick sure could kill any opponent, but I suppose drom the players I've sen on average yd have to go with Williams

Williams played 107 games in 6 years (age 23 - 28) and kicked 118 goals as a midfielder; hard to diminish those figures. Diesel and Herbie for me.

Vic AAnensen was the first I remembered. However there are a number of good players since then. Len Thompson, in the season that he played for us showed how good a ruckman, even in their last year, he was.

That being said, it's pretty hard to go past Williams, with, on his day, Davis somewhere in the top 4.

Herbie snr won our first Brownlow. I saw Herbie jnr play and he was a very handy back pocket and occasional centreman. Agree about Freddy, my dad says he was really something.

Fred Goldsmith - I never saw him play, but my old man believes he was close to the best going around at the time.

Therefore, I would give it to Fred, then Diesel.

I never saw Diesel Williams. Schwass was brilliant but he didn't last long, and I never liked the trade since Grant was my fav player and went on to have a really long career at North. That leaves me with Nick Davis.
