The Swans can't make it on yesterday's performance. However, you'll read all the usual crap through the media this week about spirit etc etc.
For sure - Melbourne have an easy run. I just couldn't be stuffed typing it up! Ha!

I lacked application - much like our team yesterday. It's catching.

Not all of the supporters and commentators are so negative about the Swans at the moment. I was listening to ex Magpies star Mick McGuane on Radio 927 who thinks that the Swans will regroup and beat the Saints this weekend. He believes that we are a far better side than the one mauled by the Tigers and will match up well against the Saints. Mick is a reasonable judge . Personally , I believe that we have a chance but it very much depends on the team named.

Round 22: In order to make the finals we need west coast to beat essendon which will happen, and north melbourne to beat freo and for us to win against the saints.
Round 23: collingwood have freo and should win, geelong will beat us at skilled, and we need the saints to beat north. Essendon will beat port, so that leaves at as 8th on the ladder.
Round 24: Bulldogs against freo at etihad, even if freo win we still should remain at 7th on the ladder and even if north beat richmond we still remain 7th.

We're likely to lose 2-3 of the last 3 games. So I don't like our chances of playing finals, let alone winning one.

If we can beat StKilda this week, which I think we can surely do, we're still a legitimate chance of a home final if we limit the damage down at the Cattery...

I like your optimism Triple B. However after watching the Saint's against the Pies Friday night and then watching us it has me concerned. Saints are in good form, we are not. If we win, it will be another low scoring nailbiter no doubt.

Surely scraping in to finals and fluking a win in the first final would only paper over the rather large cracks starting to appear in our footy Dept. Its difficult to make changes when you are perceived to have over achieved. If we take a long term view losing the last 3 games could be the catalyst for the changes that are needed for future success. That's, of course, if the club has a bit of courage and vision.

I thought we could surely beat the tigers, so I'm not real confident about the Saints now.

Don't get too carried away with the Saints form. They've barely beat a decent side in the past 2 months. Went and watched them against Freo and they took three quarters of a game to put away a side riddled with injury and a worse record in Melbourne than we have.

Hopefully yesterdays result will instill in StKilda the same mindset we went into yesterdays game with, ie. just have to turn up to win....

The current prediction by the 'experts' is that we will win 1 game (Brisbane) and finish 8th which would have us playing Carlton in an elimination final.

Could we possibly lose to Carlton 3 times in one year?

It would be something to knock them out of the finals two years in a row.

Of course on current form that doesn't seem likely, but form can change quickly.

So if we win next week does that mean we will be back at ANZ the week after playing against the Saints again?
