Shaw set for 'most important' clash

Shaw set for 'most important' clash - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

Too much talk and not enough action. After every bad loss we get served up this garbage and it doesn't make any difference. I'd rather hear nothing and have them play some half decent footy next week.
So Swans stop trying to minimise the damage, accept responsibility and do something about it!!

I don't like it when I start hearing chatter from players about how important games are. Melbourne players embarrassed themselves this year by continually doing this after a big loss. The only thing I want to hear from them is the club song next Sunday.

They have to publish something on the website. And you can't expect players to just remain silent in the face of (club-sanctioned) questioning, nor contract writers to write nothing. It's all certaintly of no import without an actual 100%+ better performance next week to back the words up, but I'd rather read that article than a, "Gee, didn't Josh Kennedy play well?" piece.

Then how about the Truth then. "We really couldn't be bothered today" or " We cant stand horse and don't want to play for him any more" instead of this regurgitated crap that means absolutely nothing.

No that was 2 articles earlier with the "Magic Moment" and woo hoo we had "3 players over 100 dream team points".

If we cannot beat the Suffocaints we are not good enough to play in the finals. If we do not beat the Suffocating Saints, our chances of playing in the finals depend on us beating Geelong at their house of pain in Round 23, a venue where they have not lost for more than three years. I consider that unlikely, even if we are playing Geelong coming off the bye. Assuming we beat Brisbane in the last round, ten and a half wins are unlikely to be enough to play finals.

The highlighted part is exactly what we spoke about at the post games drinks.
              STFU, and play footy.

What did everyone expect him to say? He got interviewed - do you want him to say that the effort was acceptable? I can just imagine the reaction if he said that.

I got the part that said "43 point loss to Richmond" and mentally switched off.

Hear, hear. Maybe Colless needs to give Longmire the same message.

Some old saying about money and mouth.
Even so, Shaw was far from our worst.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Shaw would be one of the few who could hold his head up yesterday. I don't think it's spin with him - he tells it like it is. when we were in a bit of hole last year, I asked him why the Swans didn't shepherd, and he replied "Shepherd? We don't even play for each other at present!" And who can forget him giving it to Goodes in Canberra a couple of years ago?

But I don't want the usual blah blah at the end of this week - I'm tired of hearing how "up" the whole team is for the next game, how they got over the disappointment, etc. Just get out there and show us - working as hard as Adelaide did yesterday for the next 8 quarters would be a good start to getting some respect back from us, and some heart for themselves for next year.

                            The Facebook page just posted

Shane Mumford has just dropped in and wanted us to pass on a message before he went into match review: "We were terrible yesterday and it's not acceptable to us. We have to show some heart this week to keep our season alive. We're going to stick together and do everything we can to turn it around at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.''

I love Rhycey, since coming to our club there is something about him that I just love, and what he says in the interview is spot on
                              BUT
doesn't he and the other 21 morons that were running around the MCG in Swans guernseys yesterday pretending to be AFL footballers, realise that the St Kilda game is the "most important" game of the year only because of the way they so completely and totally STUFFED UP YESTERDAY!!!!
Win yesterday, win well and we could have worn a loss to St K, but now they not only HAVE to beat ST K, they have to try and SMASH ST K to get some percentage back!
I'd like to know why nobody bothered to point this out to them at half time yesterday when we still had a chance!
