I'd like us using several big bodies in the forward line to crash packs. I think it worked very effectively getting the ball to ground and creating play in our forward 50.
If only we could get that goal kicking straight...

Hard to believe Geelong used to pick Mark Blake over Mumford. Great game from him today.

Maybe this Horse's groundbreaking tactic for breaking the press - I call it the rolling barrage - constant kicking hard and long to a pack contest. It is the role of the Swan's big bodied bulldozers/tanks to smash up the packs for our nugget crumbers. It's not actually the goals that's important in Horse's innovation but the sore bodies in the opposing team.

Very happy with the win and I'm going to ignore everything that nearly killed me during it. I thought we deserved to win by more and SURELY the accuracy will come haha

You know one of our best games last year was against Hawthorn at the SCG and Jesse White was knocking guys over like tenpins in the contests. A couple of times he took out 3 opposing players and TDL licked the crumbs up. We weren't far off that today.

Well we did it the hard way, but were by far the better team. Now to just remember that the goal is 6 points for kicking between the big posts (they were even being reminded of the difference between goals and behinds by the scoreboard messages!).

Mummy was absolutely brilliant - yes he had 54 hitouts which is colossal, but his work around the ground, 2nd efforts etc were just outstanding. Thought Rhyce did a magnificent job shutting Montagna out of the game and got plenty of it himself. Goodesy continued to show his class, Hanners worked his butt off and though McVeigh had his best game for a while. Reid was also very involved which was good to see after such a quiet game last week. Great to see Rohan back - he is the X-factor we need. Still concerned about McGlynn's form - just can't seem to get near it at the moment...

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

After last week, I'd have taken almost anything today, provided it was an improvement.

Very pleased with the win. Mumford was just terrific today; also Richards, Hannebery, Goodes, Reid, Shaw, Johnson. Really pleased to see Rohan in action again and make immediate impact. Much better effort from many others too, but those names the stand-outs for me.

Small crowd at ANZ and the game was a bit flat through half-time, but I thought the atmosphere picked up a lot when we finally clawed our way ahead and then went 2 up. Saints were down today too; didn't see a lot of their players who normally have more impact. Schneider was pretty quiet; Dempster went OK until he was cleaned up. Lucky that both Riewoldt and Milne were off their kicking today. Ground dried out a lot as the game went on, just one or two very brief and light showers. Blustery outside the stadium but didn't seem bad inside.

Bit of a weird one, winning by 15 behinds, but as I said, I'll take it!

Other than our offline kicking the team's most dominant characteristic was hurting opposition players, the Saints who are up there with the toughnuts of the competition looked like a pack of walking wounded by the end of the game. (I could just be making that up but there were definitely some hard hits.)

                  Seaby in for next week.

Jesse's cameo in the midfield was inspiring - big, fast, menacing, decent distribution. Maybe they gave him a new agenda in the reserves so he can try it out in the seniors.
No-one had a bad game today, but I particularly liked Mummy, Hanners, Ted, Jude, Goodes, Redi, McVeigh, AJ and Smooch. Red Rover was a great impact player and I think should get a full game next week.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Very satisfied with our efforts today. Didn't give up, kept tackling and taking out Saints players, kept running right to the end. If we could only kick straight we would be dangerous.

Another quick thought: didn't really miss either LRT as makeshift forward/ruck or Kennelly in the back line today, did we?

Saw that AJ listed in the injuries as "foot"; nothing serious I hope, another great effort from him today.

Nick Riewoldt ... have you met Ted??

Don't care how bloody ugly it looked .... a win when we needed it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Could Jess be in trouble for the hit on Clarke? Would be dreadfully painful given that was probably his best game of the year. Looked like he was enjoying himself too.
