    Giants hit 10,000 members....

Check out their website - they've apparently sold 10,000 foundation memberships. Be interesting to see if they manage to convert them all into full club memberships next year, which I tend to doubt.

They announced 5000 in Canberra way back when we played the Doggies out there, so I don't think Sydney is flocking to the cause yet. I'd think they'll get a bit more interest once they actually start playing in the main comp.

For those thinking that of going to a few GWS games next season, but don't want to give them any money. Have a look at membership to the Royal Agriculture Sociery of NSW. $127 for 12 months membership. Currently gives access to matches at ANZ. Might include Showground matches next year!

Because it is good information for people based in Sydney who are excited about the opportunity to watch AFL on a weekly basis.

I don't expect Vic. based fans to give a toss about GWS, but the reality is, SOME Sydney based fans are happy about it.

Thx Philby, never mind the rudeness....

Add me as a Sydney based fan looking forward to weekly football. The showground developement is extremely exciting as well. A boutique AFL stadium in Sydney is going to be great for the code. Add the fact the Swans get 12 home games next year including our very own version of the durrbee or hoedown then yes, I'm looking forward to it.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I don't know why you would be hesitant to give GWS money - in reality it all goes to growing AFL in Sydney and while I'll always be a Swans girl, if there's live AFL going on in Sydney, I'm going to go out and support GWS unless they're playing the Swans! The Giants being successful can only be a good thing for the Swans I think ...

I'm mystified why any Swans fan wouldn't welcome this. Even if the memberships are going cheaply, it's a big marker for the measure of interest in AFL in western Sydney and Canberra and has been reached without cannabalising the Swans.

Same here - in fact my little foundation-member stuff just arrived a day or two ago. I figured $50 to support AFL growing in Sydney was a worthy gesture. Now, considering it's hard enough to get me out the ANZ for a Swans game, I'm not sure if I'll do a full membership with the Giants next year, since my attendance would be rare ... but a $50 bit-of-history "First Among Giants" cap is good for the hat rack ...

Another foundation member with the 2 kids.

Great for my AFL membership but would like to follow them in some respect. Red and orange caps = GC Suns ?????

I think its terrific - thats 9999 more than the pundits here in NRL world predicted, I cant wait to get the opportunity to see footy every week. And I'm also looking forward to the rivalry that will come. This is a good thing.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
