yeah I cried most of the game - which isnt normally my bag, but this week had been such a sad one, it got the better of old "Gina hard faced Biatch" here.

I guess the fact that the boys were putting in against one of the greatest teams of this decade, and on their turf, there was the ground record, I was just too proud for words.

I'm a bit scared to say that I'm feeling the same weirdness now as I did in 2005 - that feeling of anxiousness of "should I put in for leave on the friday of the long weekend - just in case".

And I finally recouped a bottle of wine from an old Geelong mad client of mine - I have filled his freaking wine rack twice a year since 2006! I finally have won one back!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

After the game, it was hard to believe that we'd won, but what the guys did on Saturday was pretty special. It epitomised everything that's great about team sport, not just through teammates working together on the field, but also uniting to show support for one of their leaders in a time of adversity. It can't take away the pain of losing a child, and my thoughts are still with the McVeigh family, but it definitely reminded me what's great about this club.

Since 2003, when Roosy took over full time, we long standing Swans supporters have been treated to something we never had before - the respect of the entire AFL community. Before that, we were everybody's second team - simply because we weren't a threat and people felt sorry for us. From 2003 on,though, we've had a club that has been respected for the way it performs on field and conducts itself off field. Last Saturday's magnificent win, with the integrity, courage and character shown by everyone involved with our club, has only served to deepen the respect that other clubs and their supporters have for us. I've always been proud to be a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans supporter, but never more so than after the final siren last Saturday!

Well said. So we Swans supporters get a level of maturity, character and ethics in our club that would make us proud if it really was our family. I wonder how many League supporters can rely on the same standards?

Interesting article by Leigh Matthews about the power of emotion in football.
