I am so impressed with Shaw. He worked his arse off. He took the responsibility of buffering for Tadgh, and between him and Marty they countered Reg's absence. It was one hell of an effort.

As for the Rooster. He may have looked like a cooked chook when resting on the sideline, but he has genuine white line fever.

Loved the Spang and the fact that the Swannies mob have caught onto him. The roar that went up when he lead and marked, and "Did Something" was reminiscent of BBB and Plugger's. Funny how something like that clicks for one player. Hilarous that he was delisted from WC as a back line player....

The Blues didn't do us any favors but gee, they looked dreadful. On that performance I'd wonder if they can beat Essendon. Happy to play at Etihad next week, we go ok there
The ball won't be slippery though unless they turn up the heaters inside the ground and can produce some high humidity. I suspect the roof will be on.

Apologies for not specifying all the good things...of which there were many...but my upset is quite specific to three things....(1) Appalling Richmondesque skill errors....several resulting goals....missing handballs by 5 metres...missing 30 metre kicks by 15 metres left, right or over the top, or short. (2) Really, dumb, sloppy decision making when working out of defense, falling over trying to one/two handballs in what should be absolutely regulation stuff clearing from the backline...choosing to go to a dodgy contest in the corridor when there were percentage options available, overuse of the ball in close which just reeked of taking things far too casually and not having the brain switched on and (3) Appalling, ridiculous, stupid, unnecessary free kicks given up at crucial times and/or in crucial parts of the field.

These are things which we can 100% control and did not. Very, very disappointing.

Brisbane were better than us in close for significant portions of the game...but that just football - nothing to get upset about. Jesse losing at least 3 one on one contest pants down when the ball was bouncing, doesn't upset me nearly as much as Marty basically giving away shots on goal on purpose with his stupid free kicks. He does this every single match, usually more than once (as he did last night).

            What a great game.

Kirky was sitting behind us in the Brewongle. Of course I went and said hello. (He was wearing a velvet jacket. H.O.T. What style!!) We talked about my succession plan for the swans, i.e. after Horse, we'll take Maxi and Kirk, and he absolutely loved the idea. We'll talk more.

After the game, I saw MickyO. His wife and he have just had baby number three. A little girl. He's been having a blast working with the kids and has been loving all the travelling, although like Kirky, he's tired. He's off overseas again shortly. I love that man.

We hung around to watch the players come out at the end of the game. They were pumped and looking forward to a home final. Bloody Carlton. Can't trust them to do anything!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I agree, played well in the mid field, and got to his feet time and again. Also, looked like he's carrying injury

Well there seems to be a happy ending for all concerned.

It seems Amon will survive on the Lions list and in the process knocked out ROK's goal kicking yips to fix the 3.10 goal kicking performance to 7:10.

I can only think that Amon's on a 3 year contract so it would have cost Brisbane a similar amount of money to cut him. He was impressive enough in their reserves and should have played more in their seniors but seemed to be out of favour for whatever reason. I think we're in a similar position with Bulldog who is contracted till the end of next year.

N ow that's a pleasing story to start the morning with. We all have an obligation to Monty as a Swan, he got us ahead. Good on him, no matter who what when or why.
