You Know You're Addicted To The Swans When ...

Last weekend about a dozen mates all went to Jindabyne for some skiing and we stayed at a club lodge with no TV. I went along on the proviso we all found a good local where I could watch the Swans on Sat night. So Sat evening we all trooped down to the local bowling club where they had a number of big screens showing Swans, rugby world cup plus league finals. So far, so good.

Then around qtr time in the Swans game a few of the guys who were not interested in any of the sport wandered off to the pub down the road. 20 mins later all our phones started ringing with them telling us the final of the miss snow bunny bikini contest was about to start. Exit a few more of the guys who had been watching the early league game. At the half time break, the phones went bezerk ... snow bunnies were now on stage and very hot. Exit the rest of the mates except me and one other who claimed to be a Swans fan. Then Q3 comes and Saints come back big time. One more phone call from up the road to tell us the next round was the bikini round. Exit the other so-called Swans fan. So I sat on my lonesome and watched a glorious win right to the end and even until I saw them sing the song back in the dressing room.

I never made it to the snow bunnies. Back at the lodge next morning I was gleefully shown photos of what I missed, which was quite impressive. So now I know just how much I'm prepared to sacrifice to feed my Swannies addiction.

So over to the rest of you - you know you're addicted to the Swans when???

    That's hilarious.
    I don't think I can top it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

True Blood. We expect no less. I also commend you for making it clear from the outset that the Swans on Sat night were part of the proviso. They just don't get it do they.

you'd prefer to go to a Swans Final than your own anniversary dinner.
Luckily mine was on Friday Night. So no conflict.

Some friends popped in unexpected last Saturday evening. After 5 minutes they came to the realisation that I wouldn't be talking or listening to them and decided to leave.

As well as the time I had to attend a Family lunch but decided to finish off editing some Swans videos.

Poor planning that. I let off the Guard dogs 10 min before the game, visitors never a problem !

Brilliant story mate. At this time of the year, it takes a lot to get me away from the Swans - I'm not sure how I would have reacted had I have been in your shoes. I would very tempted to leave at 3/4 time, but only if I had some source of hearing the last quarter on radio.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but on past form he could have easily left at Half-Time, skipped our 3rd quarter fade out and had a good 40 mins of snowbunny action before returning for the last quarter.

You're doing better than me. We had some friends over for the saturday game and they were all more or less Swans fans. In the 3rd quarter they gave up watching the game and just watched me instead. I thought I was bottling the tension pretty well but they were worried about whether the neighbours had called the police.

I reckon I was more aroused during that last quarter than any 'snow bunny' show could possibly get me.

Plus I would have missed out on giving all the StKilda supporters sitting around us a sendoff.

I attended a lunchtime and afternoon 40th birthday picnic thing for my brother. When it came time to consider "whose place do we go to?". I offered mine instead of my parents' so I could ensure the game would be on. I also pointed out that I wouldn't be going out for dinner or doing anything else spontaneous because I wasn't missing the game. In the end they came to our place and were gone by dinner time once it became obvious I wasn't moving.

Oh Triple B, wasn't that the most wonderful feeling giving the St Kilda fans a send off! I had a trio of St Kilda gooses in front of me, and a bunch of idiot St Kilda fans behind me (including one goose that spent the whole night sprouting that we were 'tunnelling' Teddy's newly crowned b**ch all night). They were sprouting dribble all night long, so I took absolute pleasure in giving them a little bit of a send off on their way out... all about 5 minutes before the final siren. Sadly they didn't stay to hear my roaring rendition of Cheer Cheer. Hopefully the Dawks fans will be kind enough to stay around this Friday

I went to the Carlton V Saints game two weeks ago and i the amount of garbish i heard those aggorant Saints supporters talking was ridiculous. I wish i could have organised to meet them back there after the elimination final for a quick revision on where their football club currently stands!

In my case its when my 7 year old walks into the living room to proudly announce that he was going to support the bombers and I both stomped out of the room without further conversation and then had the joy of coming back into the room to tell him they were smashed by carlton on the weekend....

i dont think i've ever felt more ashamed of my behaviour.
