Just learn to kick through the ball, give up the love tap . This is also true for a few other swans.

He was wonderful last night, fantastic composure for one so young.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I don't get why people are suggesting AJ's kicking is @@@@house. He's a very solid kick. I'd have him as one of the more reliable and intelligent users by foot in the side. He's not penetrating, but he gets the job done. The fact that he's 7th last for average clangers per game (a much better stat than disposal efficiency for a defender) at the club is testament to that.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

Love his attitude, and agree he was robbed of a Rising Star nomination. Just keep going as you began AJ, we will be delighted. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

By far the most suprising of the youngsters to find a regular spot this year AJ, but I have been so pleased with what he has done all season. Can't believe he didn't get a rising star nomination, as he looks well and truly like a 10 year + defender for us.
Works hard on the field and most importantly he is cool and very calm, and has footy smarts well beyond his age. I'm not so concerned about his kicking, as that will develop with time and I think generally his kicking was just fine.Very pleased to see him emerge, especially considering the loss of Bolton at the start of the season."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

AJ has the composure of a senior player, in fact he is a bit better in that regard to many other seniors (I am not referring to Swans, I am saying in general). He has a couple of years to grow into his body (assuming he does) I have no fears about this kid. He belongs. He reminds me a bit of Andrew Schauble, and that's not a bad thing! If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Just watched the grand final replay (again!!) and I thought I saw a similiarity between the way AJ and Micky O mark the ball. By that I mean that they both seem to 'curl' around the ball. Is this just me or or anybody else noticed this?
AJ is fast becoming one of my favourite players with the mighty bloods. And he is still so young.Comment

One of the best tanks in the AFL, ran the tan and was first for oakleigh chargers and one of the best at the swans. Composed, good decision maker, determined. He'll be an unsung hero for years to come.LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.
