    Be warned, check first...

There is talk around the interweb boards that GWS are in the hunt to trade for Sam Reid in the next few weeks.

Now before you go slashing your wrists (or worse), the Sam Reid we speak of is the Bulldogs Sam Reid. He's been carving them up in the VFL apparently and the mail from the Bulldogs bunker is he may ask to be traded for more opportunities elsewhere. I guess it depends on how the new coach sees him.

So you've been warned, when the headlines scream 'Sam Reid to GWS/???????', just take a deep breath and hope the hell they don't keep the headline in cotton wool to use next year.....

It's already caught out my dad, he was catching up with one of his old buddies a couple of days ago who is a very, very keen footy fan who said "I hear GWS are a fair chance to get Sam Reid" and my father admitted that he felt a little sick until it was clarified.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

There's an archaic AFL rule that states that clubs can't have 2 players with the same name on their list.

            Isn't there?

I think it's a pretty good chance that there's an archaic AFL coach out at Blacktown who is probably thinking "Imagine how sneaky it'd be to have 2 guys with the same name on our list!"

You mean we can't get Josh Kennedy?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

And here I was trying to not cause trouble....lol.

I was so tempted to go the 'Sam Reid to GWS' thread title, but that would have been cruel and besides, the off season can get quiet around these parts without killing off a few members with heart conditions...

A bit of trivia for this sunny Tuesday morning ... Obviously we all know about our Sam's brother Ben (wouldn't he look good in red and white!) but if the Bulldogs' Sam was to head to GWS, he would be joining his younger brother ... Ben Reid. Have we ever had two sets of brothers playing with the same two names!?

                      Just what I needed.
It's been a few weeks since I've had a cariac arrest.
                      Thanks.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

gee I saw that headline and thought 'oh no!'. I'm breathing again now so it's all good - but I won't be completely at ease until our Super Sammy Reid signs on the dotted line for a new contract.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

The "other" Sam Reid is my second favourite Sam Reid in the AFL - as he has become a bit of a role model for the diabetes community (a condition that my eldest daughter has). Poor kid has had a terrible run with injuries (not to mention the whole diabetes thing...) so hope this all turns out the best for him.

As I've said elsewhere, I believe that the AFL would have directed Sheeds and the rest of the GWS mob to lay off poaching Swans players. Mutually agreed trades would be ok but not poaching. The AFL in all their wisdom have decided that Sydney can accommodate two teams, but they would not want to undermine the Swans reasonably tenuous position in such a competitive market. They will instead be seeking to bring in new players, such as those already signed with GWS, instead of shipping guys across town. I wouldn't be stressing out about who is going to get taken from us by GWS as I don't think that's how things are going to happen...

If that's the case, how come Gold Coast were allowed to pinch two players off Brisbane?
