    AJ upfront ?

Season wrap with Alex Johnson - Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club

sort of makes you wonder whether he is still ear marked as a forward in the future?

I think he would be a hard matchup !

Its usually pretty common for coaches to put new players into the system into the back line to fast forward their development isn't it?
With the forward press and the defensive pressure that is required by the Forwards I would assume his internship in the back line makes him going forward in the future a real possibility.

I like the idea that he may play forward at some time, however we need a replacement to fill his shoes (boots) prior..

Impossible to tell how he'd go given that the Horse didn't give him a run there no matter how impotent our forward line looked for the majority of the season

I just like the way the bloke knows how to play the game. No fuss, no bulldust. He is a natural.

He did go forward a couple of times.

From memory that was just him following his opponent up the ground and taking the opportunity. He did go forward once or twice aside from that and clunked a couple of marks, but that's about it. The problem is, like LJ, like Reid, like Everitt, he's not big enough to hold down FF properly. He could only really play CHF/HFF, and that spot was already taken by Reid and others.

In any case, AJ looks so comfy in defence I wouldn't want to move him. Let LJ bulk up and step into FF, and Pyke rotate through there.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

played as a forward all throughout his junior years since under 10's up until TAC Cup. i played junior footy with him at hawthorn citz and we always relied on jonno to win us games in the early years haha. me and dad suprised hes played back this year but hes done a greatt job.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Andrew Walkers success at 25 yrs of age this year was warming !..........LJ and AJ are very similar builds and if they could get their cardio up to similar efforts then who knows ?

AJ it would be fair to say would be a nightmare to mark up on if he was let loose in the Forwards as his cardio is up there already !!........his decision making looks a little slow though when he has the ball but is becoming sharper and sharper

But he has all the time in the world to make a decision and the execute, because knows where and when to run into space. His timing running into space is pretty good. Roos labelled him as a future CHB a couple of weeks ago OTC.
