    Team of the Century Revisited

    I was having a look today at the Team of the Century. It was chosen in 2003. I was wondering if it was chosen today, who would be included...
    I would think that Goodsey, Magic and Kirky would have to be certainties while ROK would be very close to making it.

    What do other people think?

      Given the TOTC ends at 1999, I don't think it would have changed too much between 2003 and 2011.

      But if it were a TOTC+11 years, then Goodes and O'Loughlin would definitely be in, Kirky almost certainly. ROK wouldn't.
      Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

          I think we just have to settle for Hall of Fame for the present. TOC will have to take care of itself in 2099.

                              Goodes, O'Loughlin, Kirk would all have to be included, no questions asked I would think. Leo, Jude and ROK I think would make it as well. After that it gets a bit tricky. Hall did enough during his career with us to warrant selection IMO but probably didn't play enough games for the Swans. C.Bolton might be in the same boat.

                              I'd stick with the first 6 as the recent players who I'd back once their careers are done.

                                  Back for what s120, last centuries team or this one? As you'd have to think with 90 years remaining Goodes would probably be the only one to be a shoe in.

                                      I interpreted it as who from the current or recent crop would have a shot at being added to the Team of the Century team that was named in 2003. More conceptual than anything really.

                                      If it were for a new Team of the Century for 2000-2099 or whatever, Kirk, O'Loughlin and Goodesy would have to be definites for me.

                                          The period 1996 to 2011 is unrivaled in the club's 113 VFL/AFL history. 13 finals appearaances in just 16 seasons, (plus 3 grand finals) You would have to have a significant number of players from that 16 season period. I suggest the following could be considerations, bearing in that the total number 8 years ago was 25:

                                          1. Paul Kelly (already in the 03 team)
                                          2. Tony Lockett (also already in the 03 team)
                                          3. Darryn Cresswell (another 03er)
                                          4. Mark Bayes (in the 2003 team)
                                          5. Michael O'Loughlin (a certainty)
                                          6. Adam Goodes (a no brainer selection)
                                          7. Brett Kirk (Twice B and F and All Australian)
                                          8. Barry Hall (no boos please)
                                          9. Jude Bolton (now approaching 300 games)
                                          10. Andrew Dunkley (in an important key position)
                                          11. Leo Barry (an All Australian defender)
                                          12. Ryan O'Keefe (a long career with starring roles in important finals games, namely against the Saints in '05 and '11; an All Australian)
                                          13. Craig Bolton (a great defender with All Australian Honours)
