Agreed. Would be interesting to see best teams from this period.

    My attempt:

Craig O'Brien Tony Lockett Nick Davis
Michael O'Loughlin Barry Hall Ryan O'Keefe
Wayne Schwass Paul Kelly Stuart Maxfield
Mark Bayes Paul Roos Paul Williams
Craig Bolton Leo Barry Tadhg Kennelly
Jason Ball Adam Goodes Brett Kirk
Jude Bolton Daryn Cresswell Darren Jolly Lews Roberts-Thompson

Even though he was one of our greatest leaders, I don't see Kirky as a 'certainty' in a Team of the Century at all...
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

Agree, and people saying ROK, Leo, etc are way off. Sure, they're fantastic players, but we're essentially talking about the best 22 players for the Swans of all time. Who would they replace from the listed TOTC?

Kirk would be a bit stiff to miss out because he has contributed such an incredible amount to the club, but he's no certainty, and the others are just a tier below.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I agree with this list. But LRT doesnt make it for me, I'd easily have Richards in the team for him on his current form, better than LRT ever was.
And Ball vs. Mumford? Thats a tight contest, but Mumford takes the cake for me ... or maybe thats just my short term memory vs my long term.

That's a great effort Captain. I'd replace Jolly with Mumford but that would be the only change and even that's a close call.

What a forward line that is. Wow
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Teddy has been great this year but has been in and out of the side a lot in his Swans career whereas LRT has been pretty consistent for a long time so at I'd have LRT over Teddy in that side.

Wouldn't be a Team of the Period without LRT "Norm Smith Medalist in our hearts"

                  Cheers Big Al.

Sure is a great forward line. Actually great team all over the park!

Agree that Mumy will be better, but tried to base it more on who has provided best service to us. Jolly was a big factor in 05 and 06.

the only player i could possibly see making his way into the side is Adam Goodes, (remembering that you must drop a player from the side to get him in)
So Goodes goes to the half forward flank, moorwood dropped to the bench, cresswell out.
getting o'loughlin in tho that may be a bit more difficult
if your head is made out of chocolate dont stand out in the sun

I was thinking the same thing, we have had a lot of fantastic individual players over the club's history - I will have to re-visit that Team of the Century again, but as good as O'Loughlin was I suspect it would be pretty hard for him to outshine someone already in the team.

Of course it all depends on how you select your team - does team balance come into it, individual performances in a season, longevity, etc?

Not really hard at all to fit Magic in. Games record holder, premiership player and quite simply a brilliant player. One of the best I've seen in the Red and White.

                        Magic in for Bayes
                        Goodes in for Cresswell.

Don't know enough about the older players to justify replacing them.

My thoughts exactly on Mick. How does the games record holder, premiership player and 3rd highest goal kicker not make it in?

I'd switch Mummy for Ball and keep Jolly. Other than that I love the team.

The forward line is huge - Good job Magic was so good when the ball hit the deck.
