Draw out - 9 games at SCG

With AFL moving to 7 Mate next year in Sydney (hence ending the need to have no AFL games leading into news/prime time etc), our times have really changed around including Sat night twilight and 3.15pm starts on Sundays and a Sunday twilight over West.

Only play GWS and Collingwood at ANZ!

Only 2 home games at ANZ? Brilliant.

      And both completely missable;

The yearly loss to the Pies, and the gimme 4 points against the scum.

So the teams we play twice are Hawthorn, Geelong, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and GWS. Not an overly easy group of teams, though it is a bit of an unknown whether the 2012 St Kilda will be more like the 2009-10 model or the 2011 model. Can't see the Dogs rebounding into the top 8, especially since they have lost Hall and don't have anyone close to being able to replace him in their forward line. So two top teams, two bottomish teams and one unknown.

            No Manuka game

We kind of made that our new Weekend away! We've had the the best past two years with friends and family making a real road trip out of it. I was already looking forward to 2012!

What a mishmash of game times! I kinda liked it when all games were either 2pm or 7:30pm!! I assume that's because of the new TV deal... We have 12 games in Sydney again - let's make it count. I'm not fond of the late starts on Sunday (don't mind them on Saturday, that's what sundays are for!!).

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Agree. 3.15 on a Sunday is no good. No good at all.

So will the Round 1 'away' game be included in our memberships?

Also agree on the ickiness of the late afternoon (or is that twilight?) starts.

3.15pm in Melbourne on a Sunday is awful for me as it gives minimal if even no ability to get back to Canberra on Sunday evening meaning you have to stay overnight in Melbourne. Not happy with that timeslot at all.

Wow, what a fixture. As Roy and HG might say "It's a season of two halves".

We'll have to pile on the wins in the first half and hope we remain in form and healthy for the second.

I think we have a super fixture. The first half of the draw is relatively easy and should set us up for the top 4. The second half is definitely tougher but nothing outrageous. Playing St.Kilda and Bulldogs twice might end up being a bonus.
I like the Sunday Twilight games gives me time to sleep off my hangover!!

Agreed. Looks like a tough run home on paper.

The draw seems good though. I agree that the later day time starts are all over the place, but more games during daylight hours is better for quality of play, less dew and taking the kids, so I'm all for that. We'll notice the benefits of the extra game in Sydney too. Only 10 trips interstate and only two away from the east coast. I did prefer our annual end of season clash with Brisbane to a trip to Geelong though!!!

By rough count I make it 7 games with a nominal day start time and 4 at night, including one Friday night. Looks like 4 Saturday afternoon games and 3 Sunday afternoon games, with varying start times.

We have the added benefit of two breaks: one for the season start proper (end March) and the standard second bye Week 12 (mid June).
