Half that for his first year in the AFL - anything in excess of 20 will be good. 40 would be wonderful of course but lets not let expectations get the better of us here. I think he'll need the year to get used to the pace and physicality of the game, not to mention learning our gameplan etc.....

To tell you your plan,
That in just seven days,
We can make him a ma-a-a-a-an.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

All Tommy has to do is give us some structure and make a contest. By doing that our forward line will have already improved from this year. If he manages to kick 20+ goals I'll be very pleased. 40+ and I might just cackle myself to death laughing at St Kilda.

What position do the RWO people think he will play? To me he seemed to play a more lead up half forward role (ala ROK of old) in the international series, and i know the games are completely different but he looked pretty special in that role for a first year player.Comment

Tommy looks an athletic type so why not just let him run amok from a HFF, a bit like he did for the Irish.
I'm thinking we can give opposition teams problems with the size and pace of our tall forwards if we played Reid, Walsh and Pyke/White in the forward half. Plus we'll have Goodes wandering about the forward lines at times.
We just need to get the right mid/small forwards to go with them, McGlynn, TDL, Lamb, Morton, Rohan types. It's not the place to park the one paced midfield grunts. If you play three talls then you need the balance to be genuine quick and clever types.
Feeling a lot better about our forward line now, it has real potential.Comment
