yeah.....you would think though that maybe the 3km test is not the bench mark after all given that our top 10 players rarely feature in the rankings !
or maybeeeee it is the benchmark ie only a handful of good 3km runners will actually become a great player......"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I think the boys are just so competitive about anything sporty that they compete against each other at any level any time. They keep trying to best their own times. Its more about endurance though. How many would be able to keep to the top runners each and every run, day in and day out.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

At the risk of being difficult, and not wanting to ruin the fun for everyone, but what chance the club can post the actual times that people run instead of just pictures of them finishing? Unless I've missed that?I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

stella
they say that because the lads are running on grass and undulating fields etc that it is not a true representation of a 3km track time
I remember though Cameron Ling used to run 9.30's at Geelong so handy time but once again it might be right on 3km if like the swans pre season course ????"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Tell me about it. I reckon it's a great thing none of our key players win their 3km runs. The form line from the winner is not that great from memory.

I think the individual times are considered a little too useful to be disclosed. I don't think any club publishes them in full. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

I did wonder about too much info, but surely opposition clubs are getting who is quick/ who tires quickly already?I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Its November Stella, its probably pretty much a moot point until say February....I mean the weight of the mo's has to be factored in before they come off, and all that stuff.
I can't think any other club would be bothering at this stage of preseason training; I think they would be more interested in three months time at where they are at then. wouldn't they? I think the boys at this stage are more or less trying to better last year's figures. Competing against their own stats. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Oh yes, I fully appreciate that- it was more just for idle curiosity than anything. In need they could even just print their placing underneath a picture of them crossing the finish line topless.

We must be bored to be talking about facial hair but while we are on the subject Reg and Marty could do with a good clean up in that department. They both look like a couple of crims off a 1970's detective program. Maybe the not shaving on game day is to frighten the opposition when they see them coming, it ain't working. I want to see a big mo like Dipper's, I think they modelled Papa Geusseppi on him.Comment

I just had a look at the highlights package for Walsh, Morton & Armstrong again. Tony really is a fantastic deliverer of the ball, both in kicking & handball. Morton's skill is freaky and I think at his best he could be the game buster. Walsh was playing FF I noticed on the highlights and seemed to be doing a pretty good job. Good lead and mark, good body position in contests and his kicking is not as bad as was pointed out here on these forums. I don't think he's far away from totally getting the gist of the skills bit. They are all real team players I noticed, giving the ball to a player in a better position every time. Tony's delivery is super & he runs & backs up. I think the recruiting dept have done good!Comment

If everyone released their 3km trial figures, they'd cease to be so sensitive. Where's Julian Assange when you need him?The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
