But next year no-one will buy PC upfront and if we don't look like top 4 (2 for some) at some stage then the club will be short in the longer-term

I'm sure the club has smart beancounters to model this

Premiership club add-on is a gamble. If club was serious about additional membership revenue, they can increase volume, increase price or both. I don't think the premiership club add-on will be the straw that breaks the camel's back either way. Anyways the club performing well is good for its finances anyways so that's what we should be cheering.

Premiership club is something that is paid at membership renewal time - you put your money where your mouth is a good three or four months before the first ball is bounced in the new season.
Being able to buy into it when we've only got a few weeks to go, in my opinion, is a bit disrespectful to those who have more faith in our team.
Have you thought of buying the mcg? That way you can garantee you are the only one allowed in on grand final day.

By buying early you ensure you don't miss out. I'm sure over the next few days there are going to be some members ticked off they missed the opportunity.
Premiership club does not buy you your seat. It is an add-on of about $80 that just guarantees you a GF ticket if we make it.
              Empty seats are empty seats.

                  Bingo. Thanks lwoggardner.
I've been in premmie club since it's inception.
Next year I won't bother... I'll just wait to see if we're doing ok later in the season then maybe pay an extra $80.

Not sure about Sydney-based members but the upgrade included a $5 premium on what premiership club cost pre-season. Admittedly, I am biased as I upgraded (I took the gamble at about round 14 from memory) but I don't think it is anything to get upset about. There is a revenue stream there for the club and they took it.

As discussed, all good for the club finances to sell part of their allocation (should we make it) in advance at the $85 premium. You can be sure that those who gambled mid-season are just as passionate as any other Swans fan. Perhaps some of them have four kids (all members), a mortgage, school fees, sports registration fees, a travel interstate to games budget etc. and every dollar counts.

When the gambling odds improve a little in your favour and the opportunity is there to realise dreams, some will dig deep and give up beer for a few weeks to pay for the chance to be part of that dream. I don't think it is fair to begrudge them.

I agree with your complaint, Annie. I don't have an issue with selling extra Premiership Club memberships later in the season, but I think it should go up in price every round - OMG - Mickey O's on Marngrook! - and rather steeply once we're guaranteed a finals berth. Should definitely be an advantage for having faith and putting your money up before the season even starts.

Absolute non issue. Great revenue stream for the club and whether you get it at the start of the year or make a financial decision to wait makes no rats arse of difference to me. I've had PC since it's inception and my best mate who is a 24 year member has never had it. Doesn't make me a better supporter. It's about choice and I reiterate, this is a non issue.

Not a bad idea. Discounted before Rnd 1, then add a few $$ every round!!

lol - I actually love that idea!!!! Gives you incentive to sign up early for the discount.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
