Does anyone know of other ways to secure a grand final ticket if the premiership club upgrade is sold out?

      Thanks

13 years is a fairly long time to generate decent demand for membership. For a ground that hosts 2 NRL clubs, the NRL grand final, big Rugby games, 20/20 cricket and of course the AFL games it hosts I would have thought membership to the ground would be a hot ticket item.

Here's a question for you... If the Swans get a great stadium deal out of the SCG negating the financial need to play at Homebush, would you still want the Swans to play games there?
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Turn up to the MCG on grand final day, and look desperate. Someone's bound to have a "spare" ticket.

Well, for 15,000 people, it must be a hot ticket item, otherwise they wouldn't be members. Especially now that international cricket is being played there.

Yes, because of the potential to draw very large crowds. I like that experience, and the SCG can't provide it. I think Homebush adds another dimension to being a Swans member in Sydney.

And if we get a Preliminary Final against Collingwood or Hawthorn, I'm sure we'll get a very large crowd. Here's hoping - on both counts.

That's a fair enough view. Obviously not one I share but it would be pretty boring if we all thought the same.

Yes a preliminary final in Sydney would be great. If we beat the Pies I think I might start to believe we can win the whole damn thing.

My wallet is thick, mostly with out of date petrol vouchers but it looks pretty impressive when chatting up the ladies.

Obviously I get found out when I they want a bottle of dom perigon and I come back with a glass of Warragamba Hi Ball.

To give you a sensible response (OK, OK no comments, I'm being serious), Your only other option is to purchase one of the Grand Final ticket packages that are on sale through Clubs or the AFL itself.

There are also options from companies that sell sports packages but expect to pay over $1000 for a day of activity which ever way you go. Its OK for the AFL and Clubs to scalp tickets but not anyone else.

Shop around for the best deal you can get for your money. Some include the Grand Final Breakfast and then after match function.

The long term option is to become an AFL member then wait out the waiting period (I think its about 8 years atm) to become a Full Member then you can go to any Grand Final you want.

Get a mate who has a Medallion Club membership with Etihad is yet another option.

Zero chance turning up on the day and having your fingers crossed.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

As Brc said, here is one option, but expensive.

The Club doesn't sell all of its allocation in premiership club memberships. I think AFL sanctions a ceiling on this level of membership so there are still some available for members with "priority" rights (as opposed to "guaranteed"). These are generally platinum or gold memberships (without the "premiership club" upgrade). There are more members in these categories than there are tickets available from the Swans allocation.

All those with this "priority" membership status will go into a draw (which has complexities based on how many memberships you register under the same order) which you would have to register for if we reach the preliminary final stage of the competition.

Those with premiership club memberships are exempt from that draw.

Or, of course, very quickly become best friends with a MCC member who had the foresight to keep his Ladies ticket, now called a Guest ticket. That'll get you a prime seat.

Should definitely be an advantage for having faith and putting your money up before the season even starts.

(That middle bit was just a brain snap.)
I'm in agreeance with Annie and Kirkari, if people want a guaranteed GF ticket four rounds out from finals, then they should have to pay more and I mean considerably more for the privilege then those of us that have enough faith to get it from the start of the season.
I pay for four adult memberships - all with premiership club, next year I may as well leave it till four weeks out to see how we are going before parting with the extra dollars.
It should cost X amount to get with your membership, add 20% if purchased before the bye and 40% if purchased between the bye and finals.

I think the club may find premiership club membership actually drops next year as a result of this.

They've sold out using the current system, so it obviously works.

Why, if you have a guaranteed grand final ticket, would you begrudge others having one? After all, it does not change the fact you have one?
