Well done Goodsey. You are spot on about GWS. A healthy rivalry will be great for AFL in this city.

Healthier if he said something bad about them though. Wont get to Derby or Showdown levels with little brother analogies, although, wanting to 'beat them u'p warmed my heart

We've been around since 1874 and it's our 30th year in this city, I want it rubbed in GWS' faces!!! I don't want to have to wait for some s/a comment from Sheeds to get the ball moving!

Yes I'm sick of them too, but I guess they need the publicity.

Take no prisioners and give them nothing.

Our team will try to destroy them and so should we as supporters.

Vote NO to g.w.$ and the likes of Tom $cully.

It will be interesting to see, how many years before little brother gives big brother a beating. Rivalry will be great.

Sorry to tell you anti GWS people but GWS is the team born in Sydney even if it may have been conceived in Melbourne. More games in Sydney is what most have been wanting for years.

I can't wait to see the day when both teams are beating interstate sides regularly and it would be a dream to see them play each other in a Grand Final. Not been done yet by two clubs from the same state.

The round 4 match is looking like being a significant game to attend. Pity its against the Shin boneheaders. Goodesy deserves to become the record holder.

Disagree, who better to get the record against than those perennial whingers. Our bunnies since 2007, it'll be sweet!

I'm just glad that, barring injury, he'll break the record at the SCG and not an away ground like the MCG or ANZ.

Who are these 'most'? I see very little demand for GWS in this city and the only real interest in the team has been emanating from Melbourne and other clubs who have been worried about who the new team are going to nick. Sydney is still not a big enough AFL market for 2 teams and I can only seeing this harming the Swans and our level of support, membership and profit.

I would hardly call them 'little brothers' - not with the amount of $$$'s stuffed in their nappies....

Yeah its gonna be interesting to see how all this works, the swans struggle to attract a decent level of support up there let alone another team needing to also. A poor crowd in the round 1 game would be highly embarassing for the AFL.

ANZ stadium has held over 70,000 Swan supporters on two occasions.........this is where finals and blockbusters are played,it is OUR home ground with a huge capacity. This is where more of our games should be played as to grow our brand and to prove we are the biggest drawing powerhouse club of all the codes in Sydney. Two Cities One Team.Go Bloods.

There are a few that post on here who can't wait for more AFL games in Sydney. Some admit it, some dont. Personal choice.

Facts are that the AFL will financially prop up GWS (as they did the Swans once) for 25 years until there IS a demand for them in Sydney - as there is now for the Swans. What any Swans supporter in Australia thinks or wants with regard to GWS is not important to them.

There is only one thing more that I would like to see than the Swans beat Collingwood is to eventually see GWS do it as well - regularly.

I can't see GWS damaging the Swans except on the field. GWS may get Swans supporters but we will always support the Swans first. It's the masses of nrl supporters living west and south west of the City that will be the target. Nrl supporters would get excited watching Folau take a basic chest mark near the try line in a bronco's game. Ho hum to AFL supporters. However watch the response now he's being trained to take one properly.

Karmichael Hunt's running goal not only produced a very positive response on AFL shows but did also produce a significant response on nrl shows. Phil Gould and Mark Geyer threatened to walk off if they showed that afl garbage again. The other panel members were instead excited about seeing it. It's their prodigal son doing good in a foreign game. The masses out west will eventually support GWS just so they beat other AFL teams. It's their team out west. Phil Gould knows it hence the response.

The Litmus test will be when Patton and Folau start taking speccies and scoring goals. It's exciting because it will force the Swans to rethink their plan. I'm not wrong in saying that many on here (including me depending on the year) have complained how the Swans see a successful year because they fell over the line to play finals footy and get knocked out in the first week.

If people love the Swans as much as they say they do, they should get a membership and go to games. I have four memberships (1 adult and 3 kids) and upgrade the kids when I take an adult (and the 2 kids not going). I will also go to GWS games and have some sort of basic membership so I can continue my Foundation member status.

Bring on 2012 for both Sydney teams.
