Our Weed has all grown up!

We knew it would happen, about game 3 in Ressies, when Reid the Weed looked like a Keeper of the first order, once he grew into his body. Looks like we were right ORB.

Have you seen the size of the "kid" in today's Tele? All shoulder muscle. I am so proud of our boy.

I read it in the Sunday Telegraph paper yesterday.

I love to watch him fly for a mark his judgement is perfect. I love the fluid movement it is true poetry. He puts himself in the perfect position on most occasions.

Here's a training drill - For every miss one Michael Bolton song gets added to their iPod. If that doesn't replicate intense pressure I don't know what does. I'd be able to thread a Sherrin through an eye of a needle.

Look he would have always built up we knew this was coming now to hold the new vbuild and also his natural mobility. Sean Rehn at one stage built up too big in the upper body and it stuffed his mobility. He toned down a little and distributed the strenght throughout his body and was ten fold better. One of the great ruckmen of the modern era. I hope they don't go too far on the upper body stuff just for the sake of strength. Phil Carman reckoned that it wasn't how big you were but how strong you were and he said strength was attributed not to lifting but to percussion (not sure right) exercises ( those using and alternate force to match yours or to override yours or vica verca). I hope we get this right!

It is a really interesting point you make wolftone57. I am also an avid follower of the English Premier League, and my team Manchester City have a full back by the name of Micah Richards. He burst on to the scene as a big, strong lad at 17 or 18 and quickly ended up in the England 1st team squad after 2 really good seasons. But then he bulked up immensly on the top half of his body, and with that he lost a lot of his natural mobility. For a good 2 seasons he was a shadow of the player he was. But over the last 18 months, he has lost some of the ridiculous bulk he had and like Rehn has spread the bulk across his body, and now he is back in career best form as such this season and probably is close to the best right back in the Premier League. So it certainly can happen, and hopefully they get it right with Sammy. But he is very young still and his body is still filling out, so I have no doubt the club will let nature take its course over the next couple of years before seriously worrying about whether he has too much bulk or too little or whatever.

Whatever happens, I can't wait to see just how good he gets. We all know his potential, and we need to be patient, but we could just have a real gem on our hands. He is probably the one player that at this stage of the season I am really looking forward to watching again and seeing how he can develop. If last years rapid progress is any indication, we have a forward that in time will be a superstar of the game, and maybe a man that will one day soon help us to another flag. 2012 is going to be a good year I feel, and I hope especially that is because Sam Reid continues to develop as we all hope!
