    Umpires

Please tell me that I am not the only one who had a little fist pump and Yay on reading that Razor Ray is undergoing knee surgery and won't be available until round 6? I feel a little ashamed, but not totally.

While on umpiring I think the AFL could employ the method of clearing play used in the SANFL. In the SANFL they whistle the play up as soon as it is apparent there is going to be no easy way for the ball to come out. They then throw the ball up very quickly not allowing the players time to provide blocks or another mellee. In most cases the ball clears out of the area very quickly and the play is more fluent the the AFL method of the umpire screaming 'get it out' all the time. The Afl method of allowing the mellee to continue as long as the ball is in movement and players are attempting to get it out looks to me much like Rugby Union. The one thing we have always had over the two Rugbies is that our game was unique. This style of umpiring is pulling our game down to their level.

Interesting that ex-Carlton player Jordan Bannister will be one of the umpire tonight. We don't seem to get many ex-players moving into umpiring unlike in cricket and the NRL.

Yes a very good interview with Teddy. They were at Essendon for 4 years and Ted reckons Jordon owes him a few favours. He did say"I shouldn't have said that should I!" Funny guy!
