I had the same problems as most others in getting the audio feed working, so thanks for the updates.

Another good hitout. My preseason optimism level is running dangerously high.

Given the Swans have traditionally struggled in the wet, and with the players out through injury/suspension/non selection a very pleasing result

This HS report provides an answer to the absence of Reid from the team last night. Doesn't sound like too much of an issue.

Great summary Ugg from what sounds like an ordinary night weather wise and without the cherry picker viewing platform to assist your vision.

So if the below is my team for round 1 of the season - I wonder how far we will be off picking this team for round 3 of the NAB Cup

Back: Smith - Richards - Shaw
Half Back: Mattner - Grundy - Johnson
Center: Rohan - Kennedy - McVeigh
Half Forward: Jetta - Reid - Goodes
Forward: McGlynn - Pyke - ROK
Followers: Mummy - Bolton - Jack

                Interchange: Hannebery - Bird - Parker - Morton/Cunningham(Sub)

my guess is for round 3 NAB Cup we will roll out something like the below team with the notable omissions being ROK and Hannes........I think we need to push Rohan onto the wing second game back as he needs the fitness

Back: Smith - Richards - Shaw
Half Back: Mattner - Grundy - Johnson
Center: Rohan - Kennedy - McVeigh
Half Forward: Jetta - Reid - Goodes
Forward: McGlynn - Pyke - MORTON
Followers: Mummy - Bolton - Jack

                Interchange: Mal - Bird - Parker - Cunningham - LRT - Walsh - Gordon - Lamb ?

                  Bless you ugg, great summary.

Shout out to the commentary by the way. Ugg's breakdown is pretty much what we (the chrome streaming, didn't refresh, put up with the static listeners) were being told by the team. Great to hear excitement and a slight Swans biais. Slight......thanks BMR for pushing for this to take place, very impressed.

Primmy, you dont know the half of it!

I drove for 3 hours in the pouring rain to get to Wangaratta, then put on a plastic poncho and stood around in the downpour for another 3 hours. I had organised the promotion so had to be there. We ran a competition that linked our Essendon sponsorship with raising money for the Wangaratta community and the prize was signed Essendon gear. After three hours of being drenched, the rumour went around that the Essendon players werent even coming, so when it was confirmed I organised with the ground announcer and did the draw early. Ironically, it wasnt even an Essendon supporter who won the gear - he followed Hawthorn!

I then helped pack everything up and watched the the St Kilda players play themselves in a swimming pool for about 10 mins (talk about an immovable object meeting an irresistible force - I think it was nil all) then got to my car, took off my soaked shoes, socks and pants(!), turned the heater up and started the 3 hour drive home in the rain again.

However, I was in good spirits because I was going to listen to the streaming coverage, wasnt I? Grrrrr. I couldnt get a thing so had to keep pulling into rest stops to refresh RWO to keep up.

By the way, I wonder how many calls the highway patrol had of a man without pants in those rest stops...?

And the punchline? I dont even get paid extra for this...

Thanks Ugg for the summary...agree with all that you wrote.

I was sitting about 10m on the fence from the coaching box (opposite side of ground from where the players ran out) and it was interesting to hear the talk (yelling) coming from the box. Numerous times during the night, I could hear Longmire yelling in frustration at Jesse White.

Stuey Dew also spent alot of time opening the door to the box and standing on the steps to give instructions to the lads.

Funny moment....first quarter Melcho missed a 20m kick straight in front of the coaches...suddenly a boom is heard from Longmire "MELCHOOOOOOOO!!" followed by bang bang on the desk!!

Sitting on the fence made me appreciate how much talk Teddy does in directing the backline...very much the general now. AJ also provides plenty of chatter and encouragement.

                      Overall a fantastic night...and even better...the 5min drive home!!

Brilliant stuff Ugg! Let's hope they don't have footage of the Rohan goal, as that might mean they have footage of the Mummy incidents as well!!

My biggest fear of the night was the prospect of our coaches box collapsing. Horse, Dew, Taubert plus the rest all packed into a teeny tiny frail box on stilts did not make for comfortable viewing.
It was amusing to see various coaches hang out the window to yell instructions, encouragement, or other at the players. Hardly surprised to hear from Matt above that White came in for some criticism. He is so frustrating to watch.
Sitting behind the Swans bench gave unique insight into a game day (or close to) atmosphere. Ugg was right in saying the 2nd quarter match ups troubled us. It was clear as players came off and were going on that the sub-rule for NAB cup was challenging.
Pretty sure Nick Smith played the entire second half without a rest and Harry Cunningham got the new boy treatment with barely a chance to take a drink before Stewie was yelling at him to get back on.
Reg looks good! Agree with everyone that Jetta seems far more poised.
A bit of a hike but still an enjoyable introduction to footy for the year, particularly heavy discounting of Pies, Sausages and Bacon/Eggs in the final quarter.

Heard them both too! Particularly the two shout outs for Jesee, 'Stay in front' and 'Stay in the contest'.

Horse sure lost it when Mal shanked that kick. Great stuff

I'm beginning to feel that Mumford might be treading that line, and with such a huge frame and the difference that a split second can make, it might be prudent if he could tone it down 'just' a little.
Interesting observation there... not sure about the comparison between Hall and Mumford as they are different players, and show(ed) their aggression in vastly different ways!! I think because Mumford has such a huge frame, it doesn't take much for opposing players to feel his full force... besides, even if he does tone it down, there are plenty of other ways in which he can be effective via his second efforts, tackling and marking around the ground/up forward (his kicking for goal is actually not too shabby for a ruckman).

But great summary ugg - I think worthy of an ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty) award from the RWO mods for putting in the hard yards for a pre-season game against glamorous North Melbourne!

aggression in the midfield is different to firing up in the backline or forward line

you dont have a second to think in the midfield !
