    Not Under The Radar

Playing two NAB games in Melbourne has not been a good idea. Much better to hang out in Narranderra. Fox Footy have been raving about Bluey Rohan, last night Nosey Parker was up in lights. Just switched on AFL insider and Dunstall, Eade & Co are busy pumping Richie Cunningham's tyres up. It's always nice to hear our kids getting media praise, but somehow I would prefer it if they stayed out of the picture until the season started. Bring back the knockouts!

With the amount of footy shows knocking around now, they have to roll around to our guys at some point.

Yep, there's only so much you can say about one round of matches and Im afraid'that all of the footy chat shows go over the same ground ad infenitum to the piont of boredom.

Im a footy tragic but just can't bear to watch the same stuf rehashed over multiple shows over four days. Have restricted myself to The Couch as a permanent and a glance at the others.

Yeah moving 360 to 4 nights a week is not a good idea, it means On the couch has all its talking points discussed before it goes to air. And I can't stand Robbo.

I like Gerard Whately but yeah I'm not particularly big on Robbo - and geez he's got a good head for radio....

We can't really fly under the radar these days with GWS around - it's been a good thing that our profile is a little higher this year. In a lot of ways we need to be noticed on and off the field. Also we do have some real talented youngsters which are deservedly getting some airtime, which is par for the course at this time of year. Add to that the crazy possibility that media hacks and people outside of Sydney might not actually underestimate the Swans as much as last year...

As scary as it is for some maybe we need to embrace the radar and try to get as close to slap bang in the middle of it as we can....

Much better to hang out in Narranderra ... unfortunately, the area has been a bit flooded over the past couple of weeks.
Wouldn't have been able to play there even if we wanted to.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The more footy the better, i watch all the shows my least favourite is afl insider because of the focus on collingwood and hawthorn.
But yeah i tend to like our boys to fly under the radar its when they perform at their best.
Parker looked so great on the weekend i would be shocked if someone in the Melbourne media didn't pick up on his performance.

I think with all the hype about Rohan and Parker Lewis Jetta is slipping under the radar. He has had a pretty good Start to the season. The promise we all expected to blossom last year seems to be about to come this year. If the opposition don't put a very fast player on him he has game breaking ability..its just we have only had glimpses to date. This could be his year!

I agree. I have been soooo disappointed in Jetta but I was watching a replay of the Essendon game from Friday and saw Jetta tackle a Neanderthal head-on during a third-effort! It looked like a puppy bringing an elephant down from front-on, but what made me really impressed was that I didnt realise he even had a 2nd effort in him! Something may just be starting to click for the boy, and if so then we may have the line-breaker that we need.

He seems like the sort of player who just needs to build up a head of steam and get some confidence. He's an instinct player and he's clearly struggled in the past to trust his guts whilst following the training and plans. A few good games in a row and he may never look back.

I have always been a huuugggeee fan of jetta, when and if he becomes confident and reads the play a lot better which i believe he will do, he will become atleast a top 10 swans player.
He has amazing speed and a brilliant kick(Contrary to his 2010 goal form).
He and Rohan are pivotal players in whether or not we can compete atm, we are lacking in quality speed and better ball movement compared to the top 4 these 2 lads will help the team greatly if they can find their feet.

And a good voice for newspapers, it is a good thing Robbo is first and foremost a print journo. Do you know that traditionally the Sports were the biggest boozers of the lot.

I don't give a damn what they say about our blokes it all comes down to what they think on the whole. As it turns out most of them don't think we can win a premiership even with all the new talent. There are reasons for that but we need not go into those here.

I can remember Tim Lane (sorry to mention him!) commentating in our final against St Kilda last year. After Mummy took a great mark...he commented "These Swans are on the rise. They are on the cusp of something special. If not this year, then in the very near future". This told me how much he rated our list and emerging talent. Tim Lane may report some stupid or ill-considered stories (ie Kieran Jack) on occasions but he's not a complete fool and does follow the game. Interesting remark from him at the time & raised my eyebrows that a Melbourne based commentater had this view early Sept 2011. Now if Jetta, Lamb, Rohan can stay free of unjuries and finally start to show form on the field...boy its going to be exciting. And I haven't even mentioned Hanners, Parker, Reid, Smith, Johnson and club insiders have been really impressed with Lockyer & Cunningham. I think it was Stuart Dew that remarked on the guernsey presentation night that they expected Lockyer to break into the senior team early this season....pleeease be another Alex J!
