You can't go wrong with AC-DC.

I don't think the 'Australia's game' tagline works in NSW or Qld, but the ad is a winner.

That is rubbish - what are we a group of 70s bogans or something

40 years too late guys - that is awful
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Yeah, It's not working for me. A bit all over the place. I suppose they're really concentrating on the country wide resonance of the sport, but if you want to advertise the game of AFL, let the football do the talking. All those great moments in games, the tension, the atmosphere, the rivalries, the elite players taking the game by the scruff of the neck, the special acts that get replayed over and over again throughout history.

I think channel 10 really advertised AFL well. They built lots of tension with music and the footage they'd select. Show people the game is exciting, make people want to want to pick a side. Personally I would have liked them to produce a few state versions of ads so for NSW only show the Swans and Giants ect.

Oh well what's done is done.

I think this ad was made with Demtriou in mind. Fifty + YO old guy, grew up with ACDC, they thought he would love it and keep there job

            Really bad

I actually don't agree, for once I am with the AFL. This is a good Ad. I don't particularly like AC/DC and I grew up in that era. I was much more a Split Enz fan and a Disco Stu! But I think they nailed it in a couple of areas. They identified the game as uniquely Australian. They got the message over that it is the game of the people, the little people, no matter what race, religion or colour you are. Pretty good really from an advertising perspective, I think it will work. If the NRL bufoons on the 'Footy Show' start slamming it then you know it has worked. I will bet they will have a go at it next week!

I'm sure they'll have enough NRL games to cover to really care...

I hope I'm not the only person in this forum getting sick of every little thing being related to the NRL or rubgy league. It's obsessive and paranoid.

I'm with you Wolfie, I think it's a great ad (but then again, I like the Collingwood one). To me the point they are trying to get across is that AFL is the true Australian game and I think it does it very, very well.

On the subject of NRL, I was at the Dragons v Tigers game tonight (I do love my red and whites!). What was interesting was at 3 different times at different places around the ground I heard chatter about GWS. Most of it was inane talk in terms of people seemed to have little idea when their first game was etc, but there were people talking about it clearly as they were interested in it, not just in disdain like the NRL honchos talk about it.
