Stone Cold into the Season Proper.

I don't like our start this year. Next week, the Suns, start the season with another practice match against the Giants and have a week off before the season really starts over Easter against Freo. I have a feeling that reality could bite hard that week and that it may take a bit of time to get on track. I would much prefer to play a couple of the better teams first up. Anybody else worried about the soft start?

I think we'll struggle against Freo coming off the break, but in general you like to see us ease in given our usual slow start.

I like the 'soft start' if you want to call it that. From my experience following footy since the early 60's, to get early wins just buils confidence. It could help steamroll our year. Early losses to any team puts pressure on players, coaches...we can avoid that with a win over Freo at home and get off to a flyer...we'll need it in a long season.

Don't like the soft start either ORB, but it will be interesting to see if this mob of players can rise above it. Big challenge to begin with, not the game against GWS so much, as the whole unit of the first month.

I am not worried at all - it's good to get a bit of run into the legs in the first few rounds and I wouldn't have expected that the pre-season training has totally tapered off as yet anyway. I would much rather start the year with good wins to set us up for a trickier run home. Remember that as well as a lot of young talent we have a number of hardened, seasoned campaigners who will hopefully hold us in good stead as the rigours of the season wear on....

I think this year the effect of a soft start will be countered by the competition for places. We have depth which requires all players to perform or face the chop. Everyone will be wanting to perform at their best against GWS just to keep their spot.

You're a cup half empty sort of person ORB!!

I'm happy to get through the early rounds with out too many injuries.
They usually know when to ramp up in games.
See Geelong last year. (but not Melbourne @ the G in 2010)
