    Round 1 - Giants

Well, it's the dawn of a new era on Saturday night, when we take on the Giants for the first time at Homebush.

I don't think the result is much in doubt. We should win this game by at least 10 goals.

What will be interesting is the crowd - how many turn up, and who they'll barrack for.

According to their website, the Giants have about 7,500 members so far (and will probably crack the 8,000 mark by Saturday). We've got about 24,000 (although I think that includes Victoria), so technically, we should outnumber them easily.

However, this game is at Homebush, and it's not part of our membership, so it remains to be seen how many Swans members in Sydney actually attend. You'd think that most of our Sydney membership would need to go to get anywhere near a crowd of 50,000 that Sheedy is predicting.

But whatever the numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if the crowd is with the Giants on the night.

Considering the giants outs, surely anything less than a 70-80 point win would be disappointing. Swans by 88 points.

After watching the giants on Saturday against what looks a very poor Richmond team (with the exception of Riewoldt, their skills look awful, and he didn't kick very straight either), I reckon a par with for us on Saturday should be a 15 goal win. The giants look behind where the suns were at the same time last year, so I think we should given them a walloping. However, the Giants players will come out fired up, so i wouldn't be suprised if it is reasonably close for the 1st half before we draw away.

So I'm saying Swans by 71 after leading by 29 at the half time break.

Which of the GWS experienced AFL players are out?

I calculated they had a maximum of 14 mature aged and/or AFL experienced players TOTAL on their list. That means a minimum 8 teenage debutants.

So how many of the 14 aren't playing as that will increase the number of teenage \debutants futher tilting the game in our favour.

15 goals if its a fine evening and not slippery, too much grunt at the stopages, too many big forwards, too solid in defence, and Mummy!

We have so much depth i dont know who to include. Brilliant to have but i think we need to cut the losses of moore and spangher at the end of the season. there very average.

So we only have to nullify Ward in the midfield, our backs shouldn't be troubled by kids and Mummy should monster Giles in the ruck.

Enthusiasm only carries you so far, still 15 goals folks

Surely Cunningham deserves a game ahead of Morton or Walsh? He'd kick more goals, too.
