    Swans 1 - Giants 0

Regardless that we are 50/1 on favourites to win the first ever Sydney Derby*, it has to be recognised that we have struck the first psychological blow in what will hopefully become the biggest rivalry in football.

GWS "owned" Cunningham, he grew up in their zone, was a part of their innaugral "Academy" ... they had dibbs on him, snubbed him, we liked him, and how sweet is it that he is promoted and selected for the first clash!

Even if he doesn't play another senior game, we can hold that one over them forever!

We done Horse, timing is everything!!

Hope he kicks a bag and we flog them by 20 goals!

C'mon the Bloods, give it to them GWS Jaffa's!!!

    * W.A. don't have any rights to the term "derby" ... any clash between neighbouring teams in any sporting code at any level has been a "local derby" for as long as I can recall (and pronounced "darbee" btw) ... so lets not try to give it some other convoluted title ... if something else evolves, so be it.

Quite right on the term - and pronunciation ! - of "derby".

I wonder if the AFL will make this the annual season opener ? If so , the typically indecent haste of the Australian media will label it a "tradition" by 2014
